You must install the hardware before installating
the modem drivers.
Installing the Hardware:
Installing the Drivers:
Before installing the software, please use the following to identify the location of your
software driver on the software CD.
56K External Call Waiting: D:\EX560LKC\
V.92 International External Modem: D:\EX560LKI\
Internal V.92 Call Waiting: D:\PM560LKC(I)\
PCI Master: D:\PM560LKC(I)\
Datalink 56K: D:\FM560LK(I)\

1. Turn off and unplug the computer and all peripherals. If you are installing an internal
PCI modem, please open the computer case and discharge any static electricity by
grounding yourself (touch the power supply, etc., or wear a grounding strap.
2. For internal PCI modems, carefully insert and secure the modem into an open PCI
slot and close the computer.
3. For external modems, carefully connect each cable as illustrated in the diagram.
4. Connect the modem line input to an analog phon jack using a RJ-11 phone cable,
which is provided with your Actiontec modem kit. Please double check your connection
before proceeding to install the software.
5. After turning-on your computer, please remember to insert the software CD-ROM
into your CD-ROM drive.
Driver and software installation tips:
Actiontec modems are compatible with Microsoft Windows 98, Me, 2000, and XP.
* Please be sure to insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive after you have powered on your
computer.
* When prompted by Windows dialog box and given options, please choose to "Specify the
location of the driver" option. This is often listed as the advanced option.
* When searching for the best driver for your device, please be sure to use the "browse" function.
* Driver location specific to each product are provided in the previous section, be sure to use
the right driver for your product to ensure proper function and performance.
* Follow Windows direction to complete driver installation.
* Fax function is enabled by installing Bitware software. Bitware can be found under the
...\apps\ subdirection for each product. To install, run the application called MSETUP.EXE,
which can be found in each product’s subdirectory. MSETUP.EXE will install both Bitware
and Adobe Acrobat 4.0 into your computer system.
