11) Pure water still tastes like Tap water:
If the RO system is newly installed, please make sure the first 1-2 tanks of water have been completely
flushed out. The new filters on your system needs to be flushed out before use.
Once the tank has been fully filled and flushed 1-2 times, use the TDS meter to check the tap water vs.
pure water TDS. With good water pressure and normal water quality, our RO units are designed to re-
move 90-99% of total dissolved solids impurities from water. Please contact an APEC product specialist
if you have any questions or need assistance.
Test#2: Test Check Valve and ASO valve:
- Make sure there is some water in the tank (tank not empty).
- Remove the Black drain line from the drain saddle (so you can check drain flow drainage).
- Turn OFF the Cold feed water supply.
- Turn ON the tank valve.
- Check the Black drain line to see if there is any water draining out from this line.
- If water does drain out from the black line --> Then this water is coming from the storage tank.
This means the Check Valve is allowing the water in the tank to back flow out into the drain line.
Solution: Replace Check Valve ( see Fig.17 Page 28 point E )
- If no water drains out from the black line (no drian water running) --> That means the Check
Valve is OK. The RO’s non-shut off is caused by the ASO valve.
Solution: Replace ASO valve ( located at Fig.17 Page 28 point C )
12) UV light does not turn on:
Once the UV light is connected to power, the power indication in the middle of the housing will
illuminate. If the bulb does not turn on, please check to ensure the power outlet is working. If the
UV is plugged under the sink and there is a garbage disposal connected there also, that power outlet
may only work when the power switch is turned on above the sink to activate the disposal.
13) Water is Warm at times:
The UV light should be plugged in all the times to ensure full disinfection. When the system sits idle,
the water sitting inside the UV chamber can heat up due to the UV light rays. It is normal to experience
some warm water for the first 1-2 cups at times, but after some water has passed through, the water will
then come out at room temperature.
