3-24. Installing the Drain Hose
a) The drain hose should be slanted downward to the
outside. (Fig. 3-79)
b) Never form a trap in the course of the hose.
c) If the drain hose will run in the room, insulate the
hose* so that chilled condensation will not damage
furniture or floors.
* Foamed polyethylene or its equivalent is recom-
mended.

Do not supply power to the
unit or operate it until all
tubing and wiring to the
outdoor unit are completed.
Left or left-rear tubing
(1) Pass the tubing and drain hose into the rear of the
indoor unit. Provide sufficient length for the con-
nections to be made.
Next, bend the tubing with a pipe bender, and con-
nect them.
(2) After performing a leak test, wrap the refrigerant
tubing and drain hose together with insulating
tape, as shown in the figure at right.
Then fit the tubing into the tubing storage space in
the rear of the indoor unit and clamp in place.
(3) Adjust the indoor unit so that it is securely installed
onto the rear panel.
