4.2.4 Assigning an IP Address Using the CLI
First access the CLI using a standard Telnet application or using a serial communication
software (e.g., HyperTerminal
TM
) connected to the Mediant 1000 RS-232 port. Then assign
the Mediant 1000 an IP address.
¾ To access the CLI via the Embedded Telnet Server, take these 3
steps:
1. To access the CLI using the embedded Telnet server, perform the following:
a. Access the Mediant 1000 Embedded Web Server (refer to Section 5.3 on page
57).
b. Set the parameter ‘Embedded Telnet Server’ (under Advanced Configuration >
Network Settings > Application Settings) to ‘Enable (Unsecured)’ or ‘Enable
Secured (SSL)’.
c. Click the Maintenance button on the main menu bar; the 'Maintenance Actions'
screen is displayed.
d. From the 'Burn to FLASH' drop-down list, select 'Yes', and then click the Reset
button; the Mediant 1000 is shut down and re-activated. A message about the
waiting period is displayed. The screen is refreshed.
e. Use a standard Telnet application to connect to the Mediant 1000 Embedded
Telnet Server. Note that if the Telnet server is set to SSL mode, a special Telnet
client is required on your PC to connect to the Telnet interface over a secured
connection.
f. Login using the username (‘Admin’) and password (‘Admin’).
