16 Several Base Stations
The use of several base stations increases the range and mobility of
your handsets. Your handsets can be registered on up to four different
base stations in order to increase the area in which the handsets can be
used. DECT−6800 base stations can be used for this or base stations
from other manufacturers as long as the devices comply with the GAP
Standard. All base stations require their own telephone line socket. The
base stations can be connected to telephone line sockets with the same
call number and even to connections with different call numbers.
16.1 Extending the DECT−6800 telephone system
Before being able to make calls via several different base stations, the
handset must be registered on all the base stations to be used. Further
information on registering handsets on base stations is provided in
Chapter 14.1.
16.2 Mobility through different locations
Your handset can be used at different locations. Register the handset on
various base stations at your workplace. If the handset has been
registered on another base station at home, you can use the handset
both at work and at home (refer to Diagram I). Whether at work or at
home, the handset automatically registers on the nearest base station as
long as the automatic selection" function has been activated (refer to
Chapter 14.2).
