11 Expanding the Telephone System
More handsets and base stations can be integrated in your telephone system.
The internationally recognised GAP
1
standard ensures the compatibility of handsets and base
stations from different manufacturers. This enables AUDIOLINE equipment and that from other
manufacturers to be integrated in one telephone system.
Multiple handsets
Up to 4 handsets can be registered on the base station.
The use of multiple handsets provides the following options:
Internal calls between the handsets (intercom). Page 41
External calls can be transferred between the handsets. Page 42
Incoming external calls are received on all handsets.
Conference calls between two handset users and one external caller. Page 42
If one of the other handsets is currently using the outside line, the icon appears
in the display. It is not possible to carry out a second external call.
Registering handsets
Before beginning registering a handset, switch the respective base station to Register mode.
6 sec Activate Register mode
After pressing the Paging button, the handset registration process must be completed
within the following 90 seconds:
 Open the REGISTER menu.
 Select the REG BASE submenu and confirm it
 Enter the number of the base station (1, 2, 3 or 4)
and confirm the input
If the handset is already connected to a base station, the corresponding number flas-
hes.
A search is then made for the base station. When the base station is found, proceed as fol-
lows:
 Enter the 4−digit PIN (default setting: 0000) and confirm the
input. Changing the PIN Page 54
The handset is then registered. The handset is assigned an internal call number which ap-
pears in the right of the display when in Standby mode. The handset already registered has
the internal call number 1. The second handset registered is assigned the internal call number
2.
To register handsets from other manufacturers, follow the instructions in the operating
manual provided with the external device. Press the Paging button for 6 seconds on
the AUDIOLINE device and enter the AUDIOLINE PIN.
