Verifying and Changing Media Drive Settings
This topic contains information on how to verify that the media drive settings on your AirSpeed
5000 system display as E:, and how to change them if they are not.

Make sure that all media drives are fully inserted into the front of the AirSpeed 5000
server.
To verify media drive settings:
1. Turn on your system.
The system will begin to startup.
2. When the system starts, log into Windows.
3. Right-click on My Computer, and select Manage.
4. In the left pane, select Disk Management. If Disk 1 (which includes drives 1-10) appears in
the right pane as:
t E:, no further action is required. Go to Step 7.
t a “Foreign disk”, you need to import it. Go to the next step.
5. Right-click on the foreign disk, and select Import Foreign Disks...
A message appears asking if you are sure you want to import foreign disks.
6. Click Yes on any Confirmation dialog boxes that appear. The drives will display the
following information:

The E: volume is labelled “Media” by default, but might appear with another name if it has been
changed.

If using the Proxy workflow, the E: drive must be configured with Read Only permissions.
Your media drive will be available with media and databases intact.
7. Do one of the following:
t If you are configuring for an Interplay Production or Team environment, see “Installing
Shared Storage and Device Service” in the AirSpeed 5000 Setup Guide.
t If you are configuring for a Standalone environment, you are ready to install your
software.
