• Donotexceedthemaximumoverloadlimitsperfunction(seespecica-
tions)northelimitsmarkedontheinstrumentitself.
• Exerciseextremecautionwhen:measuringvoltage>20V//current>10mA
//ACpowerlinewithinductiveloads//ACpowerlineduringelectrical
storms//current,whenthefuseblowsinacircuitwithopencircuit
voltage>600V//servicingCRTequipment.
GENERAL PROCEDURES:
1. Whenconnectingordisconnectingtestleadsto/fromacircuit,always
rstturnoffpowertodeviceorcircuitbeingtestedanddischargeall
capacitors.
2. Ifthemagnitudeofasignaltobemeasuredisnotknown,setselector
switchtohighestrangerstandreduceuntilsatisfactoryreadingis
obtained.
3. Strictlyobservethemaxinputlimits.
DC and AC VOLTAGE MEASUREMENT
1. ConnectredtestleadtoV-ΩInputandblackleadtoCOM.
2. PushtheDC/ACbuttontoselecteitherDCorAC.Thecorresponding
symbolisdisplayed.
3. Setfunction/rangeswitchtothedesiredvoltagerange.
4. TouchProbetipsacrossvoltagesource(inparallelwithcircuit).
5. Readvalue(andpolarityforDCmeasurements–positiveimplied;
negativeindicated)ontheLCD.
DC and AC CURRENT MEASUREMENT
1. ConnectredtestleadtothemAorAinputjackforcurrentmeasure-
mentsuptoratingshownonfrontofthemeter.Connectblacktestlead
toCOMinputjack.
2. PushDC/ACbuttonorselecttheproperswitchpositionfortheDCorAC
mode.Thecorrespondingsymbolwillappearonthedisplay.
3. SettheFunction/Rangeswitchthedesiredcurrentrange,corresponding
totheinputjackused.
4. Opencircuitinwhichcurrentistobemeasured.Securelyconnecttest
leadsinserieswiththeload.
5. Turnonpowertocircuitbeingtested.
6. ReadcurrentvalueonLCD.
Note:Eachcurrentinputhasaprotectivefuseinstalled.Iffuseblows,
replacewithfuseofthesamerating.
RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT
1. Turnoffpowertotheresistancetobemeasuredanddischargecapaci-
tors.Anyvoltagepresentduringaresistancemeasurementwillcause
inaccuratereadings.
2. ConnectredtestleadtoV-ΩInputandblacktestleadtoCOMInput.
3. SetFunction/RangeSwitchtothedesiredposition.
4. Connecttestleadstoresistanceorcircuittobemeasured.
5. ReadresistancevalueonDigitalDisplay.Opencircuitswillbedisplayedas
anoverloadcondition.
Note:Forlowresistancevalues,measureresistanceoftestleadsrst
bycontactingprobetips,anddeductthisvaluefromactualmeasurement.
CAPACITANCE MEASUREMENTS
1. Dischargeallvoltagefromthecapacitorbeforemeasuringitsvalue
(acrossa100kΩresistor).
2. InsertthecapacitorintheCxslotsortouchcapacitorleadswithprobe
tips(redtestleadconnectedtoCxinputandblackleadtoCOMinput).
3. SettheFunction/Rangeswitchtothecapacitancerangethatgivesthe
mostaccuratereading.
4. Readthecapacitancevalueonthedisplay.If“OL”appearsinhighest
range,thecapacitoristoolargetobemeasured.

blanked.Takeimmediatestepstoremovethecauseofoverload.Selecthigher
range.Ifinhighestrange,interruptmeasurement.Overloadindicationis
normalintheOHMSrangewithopencircuitortoohigharesistance.
