Adding or Removing a Beep
A beep is a sound that the thermal cycler emits when it reaches the target temperature of a
protocol step. To add or remove a beep:
1. Select a step in the protocol and touch the Options button.
2. Touch the Beep checkbox. A check mark will appear in the Beep checkbox.
3. Touch the OK button to confirm.
4. To remove the beep, select a step in the protocol and then touch the Options button.
The Step Options window opens. Delete the beep by touching the Beep checkbox to
remove the check mark.
5. Touch the OK button to confirm.
Changing Parameters in a GOTO Step
The GOTO step instructs the thermal cycler to repeat a set of steps in a loop. This step creates
a cycle in the PCR experiment. Figure 16 shows an example where the step parameters
include a GOTO step 1, and 34 additional repeats.

To change parameters in a GOTO step, follow these instructions:
1. To change the GOTO step number, touch the Step number button.
2. Enter a value using the pop-up numeric keypad.
3. Touch the repeat times button to adjust the number of repeated sets of steps in a GOTO
loop.
4. Enter a value using the pop-up numeric keypad.
5. Touch the OK button to confirm.
