Installing Management Modules and I/O Modules
All BlackDiamond 20808 I/O and management modules are hot-swappable. You do not need to power
the system off to install or remove a BlackDiamond 20808 I/O or management module.
To install a module:
1 Attach the ESD-preventive wrist strap to your bare wrist and connect the metal end to the ground
receptacle on the top right corner of the chassis.
2 Identify the slot where the module will be installed (Figure 41).
● Management modules must be installed in slot A or B.
● I/O modules must be installed in one of the numbered slots.

3 If necessary, remove a module blank from the chassis slot.
NOTE
Save all module blanks for later re-use in case you must replace a defective module or reconfigure the switch
with fewer active modules.
