before your first use Carefully unpack the pressure cooker and parts, and remove all packaging materials. Compare all parts on the parts list page with the contents of the packaging to ensure that you have all the required parts of your pressure cooker. Wash the REMOVABLE COOKING POT, LID and SEALING GASKET in warm, soapy water to remove any dust that may have accumulated during packaging. Wipe cord and pressure cooker housing with a dry cloth. Do not immerse the cord or plug in water or other liquid.

additional safety tips • Use extreme caution when removing lid after cooking. Lift straight up and always tilt the lid away from you, so any remaining steam is blocked from your face. • After becoming familiar with your pressure cooker, you can convert conventional recipes for pressure cooking. In general, reduce cooking times by two thirds. The amount of liquid used may also have to be adjusted because there is very little evaporation from the pressure cooker.

Use the cooking rack, if desired. Never load the REMOVABLE COOKING POT above the maximum ingredient level line marked “2/3 MAX PC” on cooking pot. When cooking foods that expand during cooking such as rice or dried vegetables, do not fill the unit over 1/2 full.

Power Interruption: In the event of a power outage during the HEAT or COOK cycle your pressure cooker will remember the time that was remaining at the time of the outage. If the power has been restored within 6 hours from the outage the pressure cooker TIMER will restart where it left off. If the power has been out for longer than 45 minutes reset the pressure cooker to the time that was remaining on the TIMER display when power was restored.

helpful hints for cooking rice in your pressure cooker Washing White Rice: When rice is milled some bran and residues adhere to the surface of the rice. You can remove these residues by first washing the rice with water before cooking. This will remove excess starch & residues, which will provide you with much whiter, fluffier rice. Remember to always use the RICE MEASURING CUP provided to accurately measure the rice. Add the desired amount of rice to the REMOVABLE COOKING POT.
