Operation Manual

1. Gather all ingredients and be familiar with your recipe.
Pour required amount of liquid into removable cooking
pot, and then add food. Use the cooking rack, if
desired. Never load the REMOVABLE COOKING POT
above the maximum ingredient level line marked
“2/3 MAX PC” on cooking pot. When cooking foods
that expand during cooking such as rice or dried
vegetables, do not ll the unit over 1/2 full. Over lling
may cause a risk of clogging the PRESSURE RELEASE
VALVE and developing excess pressure.
See instructions for cooking rice on page 14.
2. Make sure the SEALING GASKET is securely positioned
in the inner lid. The metal bracket inside the pressure
cooker lid should be sitting inside the groove in the
middle of the SEALING GASKET. Always examine the
SEALING GASKET before installing and before each use.
Make sure it is free of any tears or foreign matter.
3. Place lid on pressure cooker and turn clockwise
until the OPEN/CLOSE INDICATOR PIN is in the closed
position (retracted). Do not attempt to cook in your
pressure cooker unless you visually see that the OPEN/
CLOSE INDICATOR PIN is retracted.
4. Set the PRESSURE RELEASE DEVICE to the SEAL position
(see gure 1).
5. Plug power cord into unit rst and then into a
120 volt / 60 Hz AC outlet. The unit will beep and the
LED will display 8:88 for 1 second and then will change
to default cooking time of 0:03 minutes. The time
can be adjusted from 0:03 minutes up to 2:00 hours.
The time reects the cooking time AFTER pressure
has been reached and does not include preheating
time. The pressure cooker is now in standby mode.
6. Press + or – to adjust the cooking time specied for the recipe in one
minute increments. You can also press and hold the + or – button to
scroll at a faster rate. Once the desired time is displayed press the
START button. The red HEAT light will illuminate during the preheat
process. The TIMER will not start until the operating pressure has been
reached.
7. When the operating pressure has been reached the green COOK
light will illuminate and the TIMER will begin. At any time during the
HEAT and COOK cycles you can press the WARM/CANCEL button to
reset the cooking time.
8. After pressure cooking is complete the green COOK light will turn off
and the orange WARM light will illuminate indicating that the cooker
is in keep warm mode. The TIMER will display elapsed TIME in WARM
mode.
9. The pressure can be released manually or on its own. If a recipe
states "let pressure drop on its own," unplug the cooker and let sit
until the LID removes without any resistance, approximately 30 – 40
minutes depending on volume of food in the cooker. When recipe
states "reduce pressure at once" or “reduce pressure manually”,
unplug the cooker and turn the PRESSURE RELEASE DEVICE to the VENT
position to release steam and pressure. (See Figure 2). Use caution
when manually releasing pressure as hot steam will be released,
we recommend using tongs or a kitchen towel to turn the pressure
release valve.
WARNING: Never manually vent the pressure cooker when cooking
liquid ingredients such as such as soups, stews, and stocks. Press the
WARM/CANCEL button and unplug the cooker from the outlet. Wait
30 – 40 minutes before attempting to open the lid. If the lid has any
resistance when attempting to open wait additional time until it freely
opens with no resistance. If your LID is still difcult to open or has any
resistance, contact our customer service department at (866) 479-3390.
10. Pressure is completely reduced when the following 3 conditions exist:
the PRESSURE RELEASE DEVICE is in the VENT position, (see Figure 2)
and you no longer hear steam escaping from the PRESSURE RELEASE
VALVE and the PRESSURE INDICATOR PIN has dropped and the LID
opens freely with no force. Only then is it safe to remove pressure
cooker lid and serve food. Remove the lid by grasping the LID HANDLE
and twisting counter-clockwise to the UNLOCK position. Lift straight
up and always tilt the lid away from you, so any remaining steam
is blocked from your face. As a safety feature, the lid will not open
unless all pressure is reduced. DO NOT force the lid open if it does not
open freely, this means that the unit is still under pressure.
