Wash hands after handling. WARNING The engine exhaust from this product contains chemicalsknown to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductiveharm. Fueland its vapors are extremely flammable and explosive. Fire or explosion can cause severe burns or death.
WARNING t_ Contact with muffler area can result in serious burns. CAUTION Excessively high operating speeds increase risk of injury and damage to generator. Excessively low speeds impose a heavy load. e DO NOTtouch hot parts and AVOID hot exhaust gases. • DO NOTtamper with governed speed. Generator supplies correct rated frequency and voltage when running at governed speed. e Allow equipment to cool before touching. • DO NOTmodify generator in any way. e Keepat least 5 feet (1.
Assembly Install the wheel kit as follows: _._i 2. Slide axle (A) through both mounting brackets. 3. Slide a wheel (B) over axle. NOTE:Be sure to install wheel with raised hub inboard. ead entire operator's manual beforeyou attempt to assemble or operate your new generator. Your generator requires some assembly and is ready for use after it has been properly serviced with the recommended fuel and oil level is verified. 1. Tip generator so that engine end is up. 4.
Verify EngineOil Level The generator engine is shipped from the factory filled with oil (API SJ or higher 10W-30). This allows for generator operation in the widest range of temperature and climate conditions. Beforestarting the engine, check oil level and ensure that engine is serviced as described in Maintenance. NOTE:See Off in the Maintenancesection to review oil recomendations. Verify provided oil in engine is the correct viscosity for current ambient temperature.
GeneratorLocation System Ground The generator has a system ground that connects the generator frame components to the ground terminals on the AC output receptacles. The system ground is connected to the AC neutral wire (the neutral is bonded to the generator frame). Clearances and Air Movement WARNING _ Exhaust heat/gases can ignite structures or damage fuel tankcombustibles, causing a fire.
Featuresand Controls _._i ead this Operator's Manual and safety rules before operating yourgenerator. Compare the illustrations with your generator, to familiarize yourself with the locations of various controls and adjustments. Save this manual for future reference. o A - Fuel Tank -- Capacity of seven (7) U.S. gallons. B - Fuel Valve-engine. Used to turn fuel supply on and off to C - ChokeLever -- Used when starting a cold engine.
CordSets and Receptacles 120 Volt AC, 20 Amp, Duplex Receptacles Use only high quality, well-insulated, grounded extension cords with the generator's 120 Volt duplex receptacle. Inspect extension cords before each use. The duplex receptacles are protected against overload by a two pole rocker switch circuit breaker. Checkthe ratings of all extension cords before you use them. Extension cord sets used should be rated for 125 Volt AC loads at 20 Amps or greater for most electrical devices.
Operation 5. Grasp recoil handle and pull slowly until slight resistance is felt. Then pull rapidly one time only to start engine. Starting the Engine Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator. Use the following start instructions (see Featuresand Controls for location of controls described below): 1. Make sure unit is on a level surface. IMPORTANT:Failureto start and operate the unit on a level surface will cause the unit not to start or shut down during operation. 2.
ConnectingElectricalLoads 1. Let engine stabilize and warm up for a few minutes after starting. 2. Ensure circuit breaker on control panel is in "On" position. 3. Plug in and turn on the desired 120 and/or 240 Volt AC, single phase, 60 Hz electrical loads. IMPORTANT:When plugging into the 120 Volt receptacles, plug items to be powered in sequence as shown below. Stopping the Engine 1. Turn OFFand unplug aJJelectrical loads from generator panel receptacles.
Don't OverloadGenerator NEVERadd more loads than the generator capacity. Take special care to consider surge loads in generator capacity, as described above. Capacity You must make sure your generator can supply enough rated (running) and surge (starting) watts for the items you will power at the same time. Follow these simple steps: 1. Select the items you will power at the same time. 2. Total the rated(running) watts of these items.
Maintenance Maintenance Schedule Follow the hourly or calendar intervals, whichever occurs first. More frequent service is required when operating in adverse conditions noted below. * Changeengine oil * Cleandebris * Check engine oil level * Service engine air cleaner' * Changeengine oil' * Service spark plug Emissions Control Maintenance, replacement, or repair of the emissions controldevices and systemsmay be performed by any non-roadengine repair establishment or individual.
Checking Oil Level EngineMaintenance Oil level should be checked prior to each use or at feast every 8 hours of operation. Keepoil level maintained. WARNING 1. Make sure generator is on a level surface. "_ _¢ Unintentional sparking can result in fire or 2. Cleanarea around oil fill and remove oil fill cap. electric shock. 3. Service Spark Plug Changethe spark plug every 100 hours of operation or once each year, whichever comes first. This will help your engine to start easier and run better. 1.
Clean and inspectthe spark attester as follows: 1. To remove muffler heat shield (A) from muffler (B), remove four screws that connect guard to muffler bracket. Check Valve Clearance Regular valve clearance check and adjustment will improve performance and extend engine life. This procedure cannot be done without partial engine disassembly and the use of special tools.
Storage Change Engine Oil The generator should be started at least once every seven days and allowed to run at least 30 minutes. If this cannot be done and you must store the unit for more than 30 days, use the following guidelines to prepare it for storage. While engine is still warm, drain oil from crankcase. Refill with recommended grade. See Changing Engine OiL Oil Cylinder Bore • Remove spark plug and pour about 1/2 ounce (15 ml) of clean engine oil into the cylinder.
Troubleshooting Problem Engine is running, but no AC output is avaiiabJe. Cause 1. One of the circuit breakers is open. 1. Reset circuit breaker. 2. Fault in generator. 3. Poor connection or defective cord set. 2. Contact authorized service facility. 4. Connected device is bad. 4. Connect another device that is in good condition. . Engine runsgood at no-load but "bogs down"when Joads are connected. Engine will not start; or starts and runs rough. Engine shuts down when running.
