Remove sample cup and attach the cone to the Rheometer (Note: left hand threads), using the spindle
wrench to hold the Rheometer shaft (Figure A2). Note: Lift up gently on the spindle wrench.

Attach the sample cup and swing the clip under the cup to secure it in place. Take care to avoid hitting
the cone with the cup (Figure A3). Note: Do not add test sample during the gap setting procedure.

Start the DV-III running at 10 rpm. Readings of % (Torque) will be utilized for setting the cone/plate
gap. If the display reading jumps to 0.4% of scale (or higher), or will not settle to zero (indicating that
the pins on the cone and cup are hitting), unscrew the adjustment ring by turning it to the left (clockwise
as you look down on the instrument) until the reading settles at 0.0% (Figure A4).
