6 - FAMILIARISATION Remote control STARTING Locking Press button A to lock the vehicle. This is confirmed by fixed lighting of the direction indicators for approximately two seconds. STOP position (S): The ignition is off. To release the steering, turn the steering wheel slightly while turning the key, without forcing it. Accessories position (A): The ignition is off but various systems can be used.
FAMILIARISATION - 7 Vehicles fitted with a rear foglamp (ring B) Turn the ring forwards. Vehicles fitted with front foglamps and a rear foglamp (ring B) WINDSCREEN WIPERS STEERING MOUNTED CONTROLS LIGHTING Front and rear lamps (ring A) Lighting off Front foglamps (1st turn of the ring forwards). FAMILIARISATION - 9 AIRBAGS Deactivation check Front airbags With the ignition switched on (2nd notch), illumination of this warning lamp indicates that the passenger’s airbag is deactivated (switch in the "OFF" position). The warning lamp remains on until the airbag is activated again. These are fitted in the centre of the steering wheel for the driver and in the dashboard for the front passenger. They are deployed simultaneously, except in cases where the passenger’s airbag is deactivated.
10 - FAMILIARISATION DOOR MIRRORS 1. Driver’s electric window. 2. Passenger’s electric window. Manual mode: ) Press the switch. The window stops as soon as the switch is released. ) Move the manual control 3 in all four directions to adjust. Electric control for the passenger’s side mirror ) From the driver’s seat, adjust in all four directions by operating the control 4. STEERING WHEEL HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT ) When stationary, push the control A forwards to release the steering wheel adjustment mechanism.
- 11 SPEED LIMITER* CRUISE CONTROL* This limiter indicates the status of selection of the function on the instrument panel and displays the programmed speed. The minimum speed which can be programmed is at least 18 mph (30 km/h). It prevents exceeding of the speed programmed by the driver, this function remains active regardless of any action on the brake or clutch pedals. On the other hand, pressing the accelerator pedal to the point of resistance does not have any effect.

16 - FAMILIARISATION FILLING WITH FUEL This operation must be carried out with the engine switched off. ) Insert the key then turn it to the left. ) Remove the filler cap. A label indicates which type of fuel to use. When you fill your tank, do not continue after the third cut-off of the pump. This could cause engine malfunctions. The capacity of the tank is approximately 55 litres for petrol engines and 60 litres for Diesel engines.

MONITORING and DISPLAY SCREENS - 19 WARNING LAMPS AND INDICATORS A warning lamp on fixed or flashing, with the engine running, indicates an fault in the operation of the unit concerned. The illumination of certain warning lamps may be accompanied by an audible signal and a message in the screen. Do not ignore this warning: consult a CITROËN dealer as soon as possible. If the central STOP warning lamp comes on when you are driving, stop your vehicle immediately, where it is safe to do so.
20 - MONITORING and DISPLAY SCREENS Anti-lock braking system (ABS) warning lamp This comes on for a few seconds each time the ignition is switched on. If the warning lamp remains on or comes on above 8 mph (12 km/h), this indicates an ABS fault. However, the vehicle retains conventional servo-assisted braking. Illumination of this warning lamp, accompanied by an audible signal and the message "ABS fault" in the screen, indicates an ABS fault. Consult a CITROËN dealer.
MONITORING and DISPLAY SCREENS - 21 Seat belt not fastened warning lamp* When the ignition is switched on, this warning lamp comes on if the driver has not fastened their seat belt. Above 12 mph (20 km/h), the warning lamp flashes for two minutes. Once the two minutes have elapsed, the warning lamp remains on until the driver fastens their seat belt. Passenger's airbag deactivated warning lamp* Illumination of this warning lamp is accompanied by the message "Passenger airbag deactivated" in the screen.
22 - MONITORING and DISPLAY SCREENS INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAY After switching on the ignition, three functions are shown in succession: - service indicator, - engine oil level indicator, - total distance recorder/total and trip distances. Note: the total and trip distances are displayed for 30 seconds when the ignition is switched off, on opening the driver's door, as well as on locking and unlocking the vehicle. Service indicator This is a visual reminder of when the next service is due.
MONITORING and DISPLAY SCREENS - 23 Resetting the service indicator Engine oil level indicator Oil level indicator fault When the ignition is switched on, the engine oil level is indicated for approximately 10 seconds, after the service information. Surplus of oil Your CITROËN dealer carries out this operation after each service. The reset procedure is as follows: - Switch off the ignition. - Press and hold button 1. - Switch on the ignition. The display begins a 10 second countdown.
24 - MONITORING and DISPLAY SCREENS Total distance recorder LIGHTING RHEOSTAT CLOCK Briefly pressing button 1 alternates between the total and trip distance displays. To reset the trip recorder to zero, when it is displayed press button 1 until zeros appear. With the lights on, press the button to vary the intensity of the lighting of the instruments and controls. When the lighting reaches the minimum (or maximum) setting, release the button then press it again to increase (or reduce) the brightness.
MONITORING and DISPLAY SCREENS - 25 DISPLAY A This displays the following information: - the time, - the date, - the audio system displays, - a door check (e.g.: ''left front door open''), - warning messages (e.g.: ''remote control battery flat'') or information messages (e.g.: ''economy mode active''), displayed temporarily. Adjusting the parameters display A Press and hold button A for two seconds to access the settings; the data flashes, indicating it is ready to be modified.

COMFORT - 27 VENTILATION 1. Windscreen de-icing or demisting vents. 2. Front window de-icing or demisting vents. 3. Side vents. 4. Centre vents. 5. Air outlets to front footwells. Advice on operation Select the air distribution most suited to your requirements and the climatic conditions. Gradually adjust the temperature setting for your comfort. Position the air control in the ''Outside Air'' position.
28 - COMFORT HEATING 1. Air flow adjustment Turn the control from position 1 to position 4 to obtain an air flow sufficient to ensure your comfort. 2. Air flow adjustment and air intake control Turn the control from position 1 to position 4 to obtain an air flow sufficient to ensure your comfort. Intake of exterior air. This is the normal operating position. Passenger compartment isolation. This position prevents exterior odours and smoke entering the passenger compartment.
COMFORT - 29 3. Temperature adjustment To be adjusted to your requirements. From blue (exterior temperature) to red (hot). Windscreen, side windows and footwells. Footwells. 4. Air distribution adjustment Windscreen and side windows (de-icing/demisting). To quickly demist or defrost the windscreen and side windows: - position the air intake control in the ''Exterior Air Intake" position, - turn the temperature and air flow controls to maximum, - close the centre vents.
30 - COMFORT AIR CONDITIONING 1. Air conditioning control The air conditioning is designed to operate in all seasons. In summer, it enables the temperature to be lowered and in winter, above 0 °C, it increases the effectiveness of the demisting. Press the switch to activate the air conditioning. The indicator lamp comes on. The air conditioning does not operate while the air flow adjustment control is in the minimum position. Note: to optimise the operation of the air conditioning, leave the vents open.
COMFORT - 31 Intake of exterior air. This is the normal operating position. Recirculation of interior air. This position prevents exterior odours and smoke entering the passenger compartment. Used simultaneously with the air conditioning, recirculation enables both heating and cooling performance to be improved. Used without the air conditioning, recirculation may result in the formation of mist on the windows. As soon as possible, position the control in the exterior air intake position. 4.
32 - SEATS
SEATS - 33 FRONT SEATS 1. Head restraint height adjustment To raise or lower the restraint, slide it. The adjustment is correct when the upper edge of the head restraint is level with the top of the head. To remove the head restraint, place it in the top position, press the tabs and pull it upwards. To put it back in position, locate the stems of the restraint in the holes, taking care to keep them in line with the seat back.
34 - SEATS MULTIFUNCTION PASSENGER SEAT To fold the seat back: Pull the control 1 upwards and tilt the seat back. This provides a flat surface, recesses for drinks and a strap for retaining documents. To fold the seat fully: Pull the control 2 upwards and tilt the whole seat. It is not necessary to remove the head restraint. This provides access to a box which enables you to store objects so that they cannot be seen from outside the vehicle.
SEATS - 35 REAR BENCH SEAT (5 SEAT VERSION) To fold the rear bench seat: - lower the head restraint, - press control 1 to unlock the seat back 2, - fold the seat back 2 onto the seat, place the seat in the "folded" position. When repositioning: - tilt the folded seat rearwards, - lift the seat back, - check that the seat is locked correctly. Take care not to trap the seat belts. HEAD RESTRAINT This is of the "comma" type.
36 - SEATS GENERAL POINTS RELATING TO CHILD SEATS Although one of CITROËN's main criteria when designing your vehicle, the safety of your children also depends on you. For maximum safety, please follow these precautions: - all children under the age of 12 or less than one metre fifty tall must travel in approved child seats suited to their weight, on seats fitted with a seat belt or ISOFIX mountings*. - a child weighing less than 9 kg must travel in the "rearwardsfacing" position in the front.
SEATS - 37 CHILD SEATS RECOMMENDED BY CITROËN CITROËN offers a complete range of recommended child seats which are secured using a three point seat belt: Group 0+: from birth to 13 kg L1 "RÖMER Baby-Safe Plus" Installed in the rearwards-facing position. Groups 2 and 3: from 15 to 36 kg Passenger airbag OFF L3 "RECARO Start'' L4 "KLIPPAN Optima" From the age of 6 years (approximately 22 kg), the booster is used on its own. L5 "RÖMER KIDFIX" Can be fitted to the vehicle's ISOFIX mountings.
38 - SEATS INSTALLING CHILD SEATS SECURED USING THE SEAT BELT In accordance with European regulations, this table indicates the options for the installation of child seats secured using the seat belt and universally approved (a), in accordance with the weight of the child and the seat in the vehicle: Weight of the child and indicative age Below 13 kg (groups 0 (b) and 0+) Up to 1 year approx From 9 to 18 kg (group 1) From 1 to 3 years approx From 15 to 25 kg (group 2) From 3 to 6 years approx From 22 to
SEATS - 39 "ISOFIX" MOUNTINGS Your vehicle has been approved in accordance with the ISOFIX regulation. The seats, represented below, are fitted with regulation ISOFIX mountings: These are two rings located between the seat back and the seat cushion. This ISOFIX mounting system guarantees reliable, safe and fast fitting of the child seat in your vehicle. The ISOFIX child seats are fitted with two locks which are secured easily on these rings.
40 - SEATS ISOFIX CHILD SEAT RECOMMENDED BY CITROËN AND APPROVED FOR YOUR VEHICLE Isofix KIDDY Group 0+: from birth to 13 kg Group 1: from 9 to 18 kg Installed in the rear facing position, on the rear side seat only. Installed in the forwards facing position. The body of this child seat must be in contact with the back of the vehicle's front seat. This child seat can also be used on seats which are not fitted with ISOFIX mountings.
SEATS - 41 ADVICE ON CHILD SEATS The incorrect installation of a child seat in a vehicle compromises the child's protection in the event of an accident. Remember to fasten the seat belts or the child seat harnesses keeping the slack in relation to the child's body to a minimum, even for short journeys. For optimum installation of the "forward facing" child seat, ensure that the back of the child seat is in contact with the back of the vehicle's seat and that the head restraint does not cause any discomfort.
42 - SEATS Locking the seat belts Pull the strap, then insert the end into the buckle. Check that the seat belt is fastened correctly by pulling the strap. Unfastening the seat belts Press the button on the buckle. SEAT BELTS Seat belt height adjustment To lower or raise: slide the control downwards or upwards. Front seat belts with pretensioner Safety in the event of frontal impacts has been improved by the introduction of pre-tensioning seat belts for the front seats.
SEATS - 43 The driver must ensure that the passengers use the seat belts correctly and that they are all properly restrained before setting off. Wherever you are seated in the vehicle, always fasten your seat belt, even for short journeys. Do not invert the seat belt buckles as they will not fulfil their role fully. If the seats have armrests*, the lap part of the seat belt must always pass under the armrest.
44 - ACCESS and STARTING KEYS Remote control The keys allow you to switch on the ignition and operate the passenger airbag disarming switch as well as to independently operate the locks on the doors and the fuel filler cap. Locking Press button A to lock the vehicle. This is confirmed by fixed lighting of the direction indicators for approximately two seconds. Central locking From the front doors, the keys allow you to lock and unlock the doors and tailgate.
ACCESS and STARTING - 45 ELECTRONIC ENGINE IMMOBILISER This locks the engine control system as soon as the ignition has been switched off and therefore prevents starting of the vehicle by anyone who does not have the key. The ignition key has an electronic chip which has a special code. When the ignition is switched on, the code must be recognised for the vehicle to start.
46 - ACCESS and STARTING When the alarm is triggered, the siren sounds and the direction indicators flash for thirty seconds. After it has been triggered, the alarm becomes operational again. Note: if you wish to lock your vehicle without setting the alarm, lock it using the key in the door lock.
ACCESS and STARTING - 47 FRONT DOORS AND SLIDING SIDE DOORS Opening the doors from inside Opening the doors from outside Front doors Front doors The driver's door opening control permits complete unlocking of the vehicle. Locking/Unlocking from the inside Side doors Front doors To lock, lower button A. The closing control of one of the front doors permits complete locking of the vehicle. To unlock and open, lift button A and pull the handle towards you.
48 - ACCESS and STARTING Automatic central locking Your vehicle can lock automatically while driving (speed greater than 6 mph (10 km/h)). You can activate or deactivate this function. Activation Press and hold control D. Activation of the function is accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the display. Locking from the inside Lower or raise control C to lock or unlock from the inside. Locking from the inside Pressing control D operates the central locking, when the doors are closed.
ACCESS and STARTING - 49 Side door child lock This prevents opening of the side door from the inside. Turn the control a quarter turn using the ignition key. THE TAILGATE To open the tailgate, operate the handle 1 and lift it. You can unlock the tailgate by inserting the key in the lock 2. REAR DOORS Opening the doors from outside To open, pull the rear right door handle A towards you and open the rear left door by pulling the lever B on the inside.
50 - ACCESS and STARTING Opening the doors from inside The rear door opening controls only unlock these doors. To open, lift lever D. To open the other door, push lever B. Note: when closing from the inside, close the right-hand door first ensuring that lever B is in the vertical position then close the left-hand door. Opening the rear doors to 180° To open the rear doors to 180°, release the check strap E towards you when the door is partially open.
ACCESS and STARTING - 51 To close Lower the bonnet and release it at the end of its travel. Check that the bonnet has latched correctly. When the engine is hot, take care when handling the safety catch and the bonnet stay (risk of burns). OPENING THE BONNET Inside the vehicle: pull the lever on the left-hand side, under the dashboard. Outside the vehicle: lift the safety catch and raise the bonnet. The capacity of the tank is approximately 55 litres for petrol engines and 60 litres for Diesel engines.
52 - VISIBILITY Front fog lamps and rear fog lamp Rotate the ring forwards to switch on and backwards to switch off. The status is confirmed by the indicator light on the instrument panel. LIGHTS STALK "Follow-me-home" lighting In poor light, or at night, if you leave your vehicle, the side lights and dipped headlamps may remain on for approximately one minute.
VISIBILITY - 53 WINDSCREEN WIPER STALK It is necessary to reactivate wiping if the ignition has been off for over one minute: - rotate the stalk to any position, - then move it to the desired position. Rear windscreen wash Turn ring A past the first notch: the windscreen wash then the windscreen wiper operate for a fixed time. Windscreen and headlamp wash (according to country) Pull the windscreen wiper stalk towards you. The windscreen wash then the windscreen wipers operate for a fixed period.
54 - VISIBILITY ELECTRIC WINDOWS 1. Driver's electric window switch 2. Passenger electric window switch You have two options: - Manual operation: Press switch 1. The window stops as soon as the switch is released. - Automatic operation (driver): Press and hold switch 1. One touch completely opens or closes the window. Automatic closing only operates when the engine is running. Always remove the ignition key when leaving the vehicle, even for a short time.
VISIBILITY - 55 THE EXTERIOR MIRRORS Manual mirrors Move the lever in all four directions to adjust. When the vehicle is parked, the exterior mirrors can be folded back manually. Passenger side exterior mirror electric control From the driver's seat, move the control 1 in all four directions to adjust. THE MANUAL INTERIOR MIRROR The interior mirror has two positions: - day (normal), - night (anti-dazzle). To change from one to the other, push or pull the lever on the lower edge of the mirror.

58 - LIFE ON BOARD HEADLAMP ADJUSTMENT STEERING WHEEL HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT Depending on the load in your vehicle, it is recommended that the headlamp beam is adjusted. When stationary, lower the handle to unlock the steering wheel. LIFE ON BOARD - 59 LASHING RINGS Use the 6 lashing rings on the luggage compartment floor to secure your loads. You can use suitable load retainers (half-height partitions, grille, etc.) supplied by the CITROËN network. It is recommended that the load is immobilised by securing it firmly using the lashing rings on the floor.
60 - LIFE ON BOARD REAR LAYOUT
LIFE ON BOARD - 61 1. Load-space cover To install it: - position the front ends of the load space cover on its support and press gently to put it in place, - unfold the load space cover fully, - position the rear ends of the load space cover on its support and press gently to put it in place. To remove it: - unclip the rear ends, - fold the load space cover fully, - unclip the front ends and remove the load space cover. To store it, fold it like an accordion. Do not roll it. 2.
62 - DRIVING ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) AND THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE FORCE DISTRIBUTION (EBFD) HANDBRAKE Applying When parking, pull the handbrake to immobilise your vehicle. Releasing Pull the handle and press the button to release the handbrake. Illumination of this warning light and of the STOP warning light, accompanied by an audible signal (while the vehicle is moving), indicates that the handbrake is still applied or has not been released fully.
DRIVING - 63 The status of the function is displayed on the instrument panel in accordance with the following sequences: Function selected, displaying of the "Speed Limiter" symbol. Function deactivated, last programmed speed - OFF (example at 66 mph (107 km/h)). SPEED LIMITER* The operating actions must be carried out when stationary, with the engine running, or with the vehicle moving. Function activated (example at 66 mph (107 km/h)).
64 - Exceeding the programmed speed Pressing the accelerator pedal in order to exceed the programmed speed will have no effect unless you press the pedal firmly beyond the point of resistance. The limiter is deactivated temporarily and the programmed speed which is still displayed flashes. Switching the function off ) Place dial in position 0 or switch off the ignition to switch the system off. The last programmed speed remains in the memory.
DRIVING - 65 The status of the function is displayed on the instrument panel in accordance with the following sequences: Function selected, displaying of the "Cruise Control" symbol. Function deactivated, OFF (example at 66 mph (107 km/h)). CRUISE CONTROL* The cruise control maintains a constant vehicle speed programmed by the driver. In order for it to be programmed or activated, the vehicle speed must be greater than 25 mph (40 km/h) with at least fourth gear engaged.
66 - DRIVING Deactivation (off) ) Press this button or the brake or clutch pedal. Reactivation ) Following deactivation of the cruise control, press this button. Your vehicle will return to the last programmed speed. Alternatively, you can repeat the "first activation" procedure. Changing the programmed reference speed When the speed is displayed: ) press SET + button to increase it. ) press the SET - button to decrease it.
DRIVING - 67 The airbags have been designed to maximise the safety of the occupants in the event of serious collisions. They work in conjunction with the force-limiting seat belts. The electronic detectors register and analyse any abrupt deceleration of the vehicle in the impact detection zones (see diagram): if the triggering threshold is reached, the airbags inflate instantly and protect the occupants of the vehicle.
68 - DRIVING Front airbag malfunction The airbag warning light on the instrument panel is lit throughout the period of disarming. In the "OFF" position, the passenger airbag will not be triggered in the event of an impact. The triggering of these airbags requires a serious side impact applied in the side impact zone B, perpendicular to the longitudinal centreline of the vehicle, on a horizontal plane and from the outside of the vehicle towards the inside. The side airbag inflates between the front occupant of the vehicle and the door trim pad. It therefore limits the risk of injury to the chest.

Air filter and passenger compartment filter Have the filter elements replaced regularly. If you drive in dusty conditions, change them twice as often. Brake pads Brake pad wear depends on the style of driving, in particular for vehicles which are used in town, over short distances.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION - 77 CHANGING A WHEEL Access to the spare wheel and the jack The wheel is located outside the vehicle, under the rear floor, supported by a metal carrier. - Parking the vehicle - If possible, park the vehicle on level, stable and non-slippery ground. - Apply the handbrake, switch off the ignition and engage first or reverse gear. - Remove the jack and the wheelbrace 1, secured behind the driver's seat.
78 - PRACTICAL INFORMATION For your safety, change a wheel: always - Refitting the wheel - After positioning the wheel, lightly pre-tighten the bolts using the wheelbrace. Compress the jack and release it. Fully tighten the bolts using the wheelbrace. Replace the trim, starting at the valve passage hole, and press it on using the palm of the hand. Replacing the wheel in the carrier - Replace the chock 2 in the wheel. Replace the wheel in the carrier.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION - 79 ANTI-THEFT BOLT* If your wheels are fitted with an antitheft bolt (one per wheel), it must be unscrewed using an anti-theft socket (which was given to you on delivery of your vehicle along with the duplicate keys and the confidential card) and the wheelbrace. Note: make a careful note of the code number engraved on the top of the anti-theft socket. This will enable you to obtain a duplicate anti-theft socket from your CITROËN dealer.

Direction indicator side repeaters (WY 5 W amber) - Push the lens to the front or rear and pull it out. Turn the bulb holder a quarter turn.

90 - PRACTICAL INFORMATION BATTERY ECONOMY MODE FUNCTION To charge the battery using a battery charger: After the engine has stopped, with the key in the "accessories" position, certain functions (windscreen wiper, electric windows, courtesy lights, audio equipment, etc.) can only be used for a combined duration of approximately thirty minutes, to prevent discharging the battery.

92 - PRACTICAL INFORMATION SNOW SCREEN* The snow screen is installed on the lower part of the front bumper to prevent the accumulation of snow at the radiator cooling fan. Remove the snow screen: - when the exterior temperature is higher than 10 °C, - when towing, - for speeds higher than 75 mph (120 km/h). PRACTICAL INFORMATION - 93 Never use the radiator crossmember. When towing another vehicle, it must freewheel. Place the gearbox in "neutral". Failure to observe this instruction may result in damage to certain braking components and the absence of braking assistance when the engine is started again. Driving advice We recommend the use of original CITROËN towbars and their harnesses that have been tested and approved from the design stage of your vehicle and that the fitting of the towbar is entrusted to a CITROËN dealer. If the towbar is not fitted by a CITROËN dealer, it is imperative that it is fitted using the electrical preequipment installed at the rear of the vehicle, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

This is a normal effect of the way in which radio waves are transmitted and does not indicate any failure of the audio system. 04 AUDIO RECEIVING TA MESSAGES CD PLAYING A CD The TA (Traffic Announcement) function gives priority to TA alert messages. To operate, this function needs good reception of a radio station transmitting this type of message. When a traffic report is transmitted, the current audio source (Radio, CD, ...) is interrupted automatically to play the TA message. Normal playback of the audio source resumes at the end of the transmission of the message. Insert circular compact discs only.
04 AUDIO MP3 CD PLAYING AN MP3 COMPILATION Insert an MP3 compilation in the player. The audio equipment searches for all of the music tracks, which may take anything between a few seconds and several tens of seconds, before play begins. On a single disc, the CD player can read up to 255 MP3 files spread over 8 folder levels. However, it is advisable to keep to a limit of two levels to reduce the access time before the CD is played. While the CD is being played, the folder structure is not followed.

For optimum sound quality, the audio settings (Volume, Bass, Treble, Ambience, Loudness) can be adapted to the different sound sources, which may result in audible differences when changing source (radio, CD...). QUESTION ANSWER SOLUTION The stored stations do not function (no sound, 87.5 Mhz is displayed...). An incorrect waveband is selected.
