startingthatcouldcauseseriousinjury.
PREPARING FOR OPERATION
Yourplaner has a rear handle and front assist handlefor ease of
operation.Theyprovide the two-hand operationwhichis necessaryto maintain
propercontrolof the planer.ALWAYS keep both hands clear of the bladesand
the cuttingarea.
ALWAYS usa both handswhen usingthe planer. Hold thefront handlewith
yourleft hand and the rear handlew_h your righthand (as shownin Fig.2).
This positionmakes your planer easier to handle and keeps youclear of the
chip exhaust.
The work movingduringa cutcould result in the lossof controlof the planer,
possiblycausingserious injury.

ZL_ CAUTION: DO NOT plane toofast because this causes buildup in I
the chipexhaust.Chip build-up restrictsair flow and can causethe motor to

over heat.
Keep the cordaway from the cuttingarea. ALWAYS place the cord so it does
nothang on the workwhen you are makinga cut.
/_, DANGER: Ifthe cordhangs upon the work duringthecut, releasethe I
tdggerswitchimmediately.Unplugthe planerand checkthecordfor damage.

Ifthereisno damage, repositionthe cordtopreventit from hangingup again.
Ifthe cord has been damaged,haveit replacedbefore usingyourplaner.

THE CORRECTWAYTO USEYOUR PLANER (See Fig. 2)
ALWAYS holdyourplaner as shownin Figure 2.
1. ALWAYS keep controlofyour planer.It makes cuttingeasier and safer,
as shownin Figure 2.
2. To help keep control ALWAYS supportyour work so the cutwillbe on
yourright.
3. ALWAYS clamp your workso it does not moveduringthe cut(see Figure2).
