To ensure safe and proper operation of your tractor, all parts and hardware you assemble must be tightened securely. Use the correct tools as necessary to insure their proper tightness. ASS LY HOW TO SET UP YOUR TRACTOR iNSTALL PREPARE Adjust seat before tightening adjustment knob. BATTERY CAUTION: (See Fig. 3) Wear eye and face shield. Wash hands or clothing _ immediately ff • Remove cardboard packing on seat pan. • Place seat on pan and assemble shoulder bolt. • Assemble adjustment knob and fiat washer loosely. Do not tighten. Tighten shoulder bolt securely. Oo not smoke. Fumes from charged accidentallyincontactwithbatteryacid. battery acid are explosive.
ASSEMBLY HNSTALL BATTERY {See Figs, 5 & 6) WING NUTS CAUT1ON: Do not short battery terminals. Before installing battery, remove metal bracelets, wristwatch bands, rings, etc. DOORS Positive terminal must be connected first to prevent sparking from accidents! grounding. OPERATION TO TRANSPORT ADD GASOL|NE , Raise attachment lift to highest position with liftcontrol. • , When pushing or towing your unit, be sure gearshift lever is in "NEUTRAL" position. • Do not push or tow unit at more than five (5) MPH. CUSTOM ILITIES TRACTOR BATTERY Always observe safety rules when performing any maintenance. Your tractor has a battery charging system which is sufficient for normal use. However, periodic charging of the battery with an automotive charger will extend it's life. BRAKE • Acid solution level in each battery cell should be even with bottoms of vent wells. Add only distilled or iron free water if necessary. Do not overfill. • Keep battery and terminals clean. - Keep battery bolts tight.
CUSTOMER FIESPONSIBmLITIES ENGINE LUBRICATION Only use high quality detergent oil rated with API service classification SG. Select the oil's SAE viscosity grade according to your expected operating temperature. CUSTOMER AiR FILTER RESPONSiBiLITIES ENG1NE OtL FILTER (See Fig. 15) Your engine will not run properly using a dirty air filter. Clean the foam pre-cleaner element after every 25 hours of operation or every season. Service paper cartridge every !00 hours or every season, whichever occurs first. Replace the engine oil filter every season or every other oil change if the tractor is used more than 100 hours in one year. Service air cleaner more often under dusty conditions.
SERVICE CAUTION: BEFORE PERFORMING Depress clutch/brake _ ® * ADJUSTMENTS ANY SERVICE OR ADJUSTtVlENTS: pedal fully and set parking brake. Place attachment clutch in "DISENGAGED position, lace ignition gearshift keylever in 'NEUTRAL'position. Turn "OFF" and remove key. Make sure the blades and all moving parts have completely stopped. Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place wire where it cannot come in contact with plug. POWER TAKE OFF (CLUTCH Fig, 17) Stop engine.
SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS TO REPLACE MOTION Figs. 19 and 20) DRIVE BELT (See TO ADJUST STEERING WHEEL ALIGNMENT If steering wheel crossbars are not horizontal (left to right) when wheels are positioned straight forward, remove steering wheel and reassemble per instructions in the Assembly section of this manual. SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS TO REMOVE WHEEL FOR REPAIRS TO REMOVE CABLES, REVERSE ORDER • FRONT WHEEL (See Fig. 23) • Block up axle securely. o Remove axle cover, retaining ring and washersto allow wheel removal. . Repair tire and reassemble. • Replace washers and snap retaining ring securely in axle groove. ® Replace axle cover. BLACK cable first from left side of chassis and fully charged battery. SERVICE A TO REMOVE HOOD (See Figs. 26 & 27) AND GRILL ADJUSTMENTS ASSEMBLY With engine off turn idle fuel adjusting needle in (clockwise) closing it finger tight and then turn out (counterclockwise) 1-1/4 turns. • Lift hood. Disconnect headlight wire connection. o Unscrew one screw at rear of each side panel. • Pivot hood and side panel forward and lift off tractor. Turn main fuel adjusting needle in (clockwise) closing finger tight and then turn out (counterclockwise) 1 turn.
