MAiNTAiNiNG THE AiR FILTER
_ WARNING: To avoid serious personal injury, always stop
the engine and allow it to cool before cleaning or maintaining

the unit.
Failure to maintain the air filter can result in poor performance or can
cause permanent damage to the engine. Engine failure due to
improper air filter maintenance is not covered by the product warranty.
Removing the Air Filter Cover
1. Move the choke lever to Position 2 (Fig. 19).
2. Remove the four (4) screws securing the air filter cover (Fig. 19).
Use a flat blade or T20 Torx® bit screwdriver.
3. Carefully remove the air filter cover from the engine.
Cleaning the Air Filter
1. Remove the air filter from inside the air filter cover (Fig. 20).
2. Wash the air filter in detergent and water. Rinse the air filter
thoroughly and allow it to dry.
3. Lightly coat the air filter with clean SAE 30 oil.
4. Squeeze the air filter to spread and remove excess oil.
5. Reinstall the air filter inside the air filter cover (Fig. 20).
NOTE: Operating the unit without the air filter and air filter cover will
VOiD the warranty.
Reinstalling the Air Filter Cover
1. Place the air filter cover back over the engine. Align the screw holes.
2. insert the four (4) screws into the screw holes in the air filter
cover (Fig. 19). Tighten the screws. Do not over tighten.
