Use the deck height lever to raise the lift assembly to its  
highest position.
Remove the wooden blocks from under the deck and 
gently slide the cutting deck toward the rear of the
machine.

To install the cutting deck, follow the above steps in reverse
order to reattach deck and belt cover
Cutting Blades
Shut the engine off and remove
ignition key (if so equipped) before removing the
cutting blade(s) for sharpening or replacement.


To remove the blades, proceed as follows:
Remove the deck from beneath the mower (refer to Cutting 
Deck Removal earlier in this section), then gently flip the
deck over to expose its underside.

Remove the hex flange nut that secures the blade to the 
spindle assembly. See Fig. 7-5.
To properly sharpen the cutting blades, remove equal 4.

angle. Always grind each cutting blade edge equally to
maintain proper blade balance. See Fig. 7-6.
If the cutting edge of the blade has
previously been sharpened, or if any metal
separation is present, replace the blades with new
ones.
A poorly balanced blade will cause
excessive vibration, may damage the mower and/or
result in personal injury.



