Installation Sheet

TOOLS:
Level
Builder square
Measuring tape
Rotary tool with diamond blade
Miter saw with diamond blade
Utility knife
Sand paper
Caulk gun for adhesive
Polyurethane construction adhesive
Grout float for applying pressure
Silicone or flexible caulk
Masking tape
Stone Sealer
PREPARATION:
1. Prior to starting the installation, inspect all mosaics and do a dry lay to make sure all the mosaics are in good condition and interlock properly. Do not remove the protective
backing yet
2. Remove any existing caulk from the substrate prior installation
3. Ensure the substrate is flat, smooth, clean and free of dust, oil, moisture, dirt and cleaner residues
Substrates that are heavily textured may hinder the ability of the adhesive to achieve the required 90 % bond
INSTALLATION:
1. Use a level to ensure that the floor and/or counter is leveled against the wall so the mosaic is installed straight
2. Measure the wall and mark the center where the first mosaic will be placed
3. Mark the center of the first mosaic to align it to the center of the wall
4 a. Remove a small portion of the protective backing and lightly stick into place
Once tile is in the right position apply pressure evenly while removing the protective backer
4 b. For a stronger bond, remove the protective backing. Apply 3/8” size bead of polyurethane adhesive on all four corners and center of the mosaic. The adhesive needs to be
applied 2“ away from the edge of the mosaic. This step will allow a small range of movement for placement correction
5. Ensure that an 1/8" gap is left between the mosaic and adjoining surfaces (cabinets, countertops, walls, floors
and ceiling)
6. Press firmly in all areas with a grout float
NOTE: when positioning and placing the mosaic, make sure the tile alignment is correct before applying any pressure. After pressure is applied the mosaic will be permanently
bonded to the substrate. Removal of mosaic may cause damage to the substrate
7. Use silicone or flexible caulk to finish the edges
8. A stone sealer is recommended to protect the stone. Wipe o any sealer o the glass
CUTTING:
1. Keep the protective backing while cutting the tile
2. Draw an erasable line on the face of the tile
3. Apply masking tape along the line. The tape must stay on the piece of the tile that will be installed. It will help as a cutting guide and to keep the mosaic chips in place
4. Use a rotary tool or a miter saw with diamond blade to cut through the tile
5. If a wet saw is needed, rapidly dry the tile and let the mosaic dry before it is adhered to the substrate
6. Sand the cut pieces to ease the edges
7. A utility knife can be used when cutting along the joints
