is used to host databases that can have a wide variety of high availability (HA) and
disaster recovery (DR) requirements. Both Microsoft SQL Server and Dell EMC™ SC Series storage arrays
have a number of capabilities that can be used to design solutions to fit these requirements. Since designing
for stringent Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) is complex and takes
many business and technology requirements into account, there is no single solution that works best in all
cases. The purpose of this paper is to discuss options available with both Dell EMC SC Series and Microsoft
SQL Server and how they can be used to architect the right solution for even the most challenging
environments. While hypervisors also provide HA and DR features, those features are not discussed in this
document.
