ip domain-lookup
The
ip domain-lookup
global configuration command enables IP Domain Naming System (DNS)-
based host name-to-address translation. To disable the DNS, use the
no
form of this command.
Syntax
ip domain-lookup
no ip domain-lookup
Default Configuration
The DNS is enabled.

There are no user guidelines for this command.
Example
The following example enables the IP Domain Naming System (DNS)-based host name-to-address
translation:
ip domain-name
The
ip domain-name
global configuration command defines a default domain name used to
complete unqualified host names. An unqualified host name does not include a dotted-decimal
domain name. To delete the default domain name, use the
no
form of this command.
Syntax
ip domain-name
name
no ip domain-name
name
—Default domain name used to complete an unqualified host name. Do not
include the initial period that separates the unqualified host name from the domain
name (Range: 1-158 characters).
Default Configuration
The default domain name is not defined.
