Introduction

This guide provides instructions for unpacking, installing, and setting up a PowerConnect

B-Series TI24X chassis

as a standalone unit. Note the following additional documentation:

• For detailed installation and configuration instructions, refer to the appropriate hardware installation guide for

this product.

• For rack-specific installation instructions, refer to the appropriate rack mount installation procedures.

The PowerConnect

B-Series TI24X device (Figure 1 on page 3) can be installed in the following ways:

• As standalone units on a flat surface.

• In a telecommunications (Telco) rack (recommended).

Although not recommended, the PowerConnect

B-Series TI24X device can also be installed in a non-Telco rack but

requires additional mounting hardware.

Figure 1 shows the front panel of the PowerConnect

TI24X device and the location of the management and

console ports.
