Removing 2.5-inch cabled drives from the drive cage
Prerequisites
NOTE:
To identify the drive, see the label on the drive cable. For more information, see Drive Specifications in the
PowerEdge C4140 Technical Specs at .www.dell.com/poweredgemanuals.
1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.
2. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
3. Keep the Phillips #2 screwdriver ready.
4. Remove the 2.5-inch drive cage.
5. Remove the 2.5-inch drive cage cover.
Steps
1. Remove the screws securing the drive to the drive cage.
NOTE:
If the 2.5-inch drive has Torx screw, use Torx 6 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the drive to the
drive cage.
2. Remove drives 0 and 1 by performing the following steps:
a. Disconnect the signal and power cable from the drives.
b. Lift drive 0 out of the drive cage.
c. Slide drive 1 out of the drive cage.
