NOTE: The Operating System disc is optional and may not ship with your computer.
You can use the operating system disc to install or reinstall the operating system on your computer. You must reinstall all drivers
and software after reinstalling the operating system using the operating system disc.
Reinstalling the operating system using the Operating System disc
To reinstall the operating system:
1. Insert the Operating System disc and restart the computer.
2. When the DELL logo appears, press F12 immediately to access the boot menu.
NOTE: If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until your computer loads the
operating system; then, restart your computer and try again.
3. Select the CD/DVD drive from the list and press Enter.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
System reinstall media
The system reinstall media created using Dell Backup and Recovery enables you to return your hard drive to the operating state
it was in when you purchased the computer while preserving the data files on your computer. Use Dell Backup and Recovery to
create the system reinstall media.
Restoring your computer using system reinstall media
To restore your computer using the system reinstall media:
1. Turn off your computer.
2. Insert the system recovery disc into the optical drive or connect the USB key and turn on the computer.
3. When the DELL logo appears, press F12 immediately to access the boot menu.
NOTE:
If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until your computer loads the
operating system; then, restart your computer and try again.
4. Highlight the media you are using to restore, and press Enter.
5. If prompted, quickly press any key to boot from the boot device.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the recovery process.
