STEP 5. INSTALLING SHOWER WALL IN ALCOVE
a. Peel back protective lm along bottom edge of back and side panels.
b. Apply a generous bead of adhesive below mark on each back panel stud only (follow
adhesive manufacturer’s recommended instructions).
c. Place back panel and center on base or bathtub.
d. Apply adhesive to studs for side panel opposite the shower controls and place side panel.
e. Apply adhesive to studs for faucet side panel and place side panel. (Fig. 8)
f. Center wall panels on shower base. Make sure panels are resting at on base or bathtub.
g. Reposition shims if needed.
h. Press back panel rmly into place and align the front of the side walls to the front of the
shower base and screw back panel nail ange to studs.
i. Apply pressure to one side panel, directing the pressure towards back panel, then screw
vertical nail ange to stud. Repeat for opposite side panel.
j. Screw top ange of side panels to studs.
k. Panels must be held tight to studs during drying process. Apply pressure to panels while
adhesive dries with cross bracing. (Fig. 9)
IMPORTANT - Failure to adhere panels and screw all anges to all studs will void warranty.
STEP 6. CAULKING
a. When installed on any Lyons shower base your Elite™ wall is designed to
function properly without seams being caulked.
b. If you prefer the appearance of caulked seams, caulk all seams or leaks may occur.
c. Caulk must be applied around holes for the faucet, diverter valve and shower head.
d. If your Elite™ wall is used on a shower base other than a Lyons, it is required to caulk all
seams.
e. If a shower door is installed, caulk is required between the shower base, wall, and door.
f. For best results always use a high-grade silicone caulk.
STEP 7. FINISHING
Green Board or Other Finishing Boards
a. Shim studs with lattice strips or 1/4" luan so that nishing board will overlap nail anges. (Fig. 10)
Tile
a. Install nishing board up to (not over) nail anges.
b. Install tile over nishing board and nail anges.
CLEANING
Do not use any abrasive cleaners or metal scrapers.
If drywall mud or plaster gets on a nished surface it may be carefully removed with a
wooden scraper made from a piece of scrap wood.
Adhesive may be removed with mineral spirits.
Ideal cleaners are Soft Scrub Gel®, Comet Gel® or 409®.
WARNING: Some cleaning products are not suitable for use. Read all labels carefully.
DO NOT USE if they say “not suitable for use with ABS, acrylic or polystyrene".
