Rosemount Analytical Inc. A Division of Emerson Process Management Installation 2-1
Model NGA 2000 Platform
SECTION 2
INSTALLATION
WARNING.
Before starting to install this equip-
ment, read the “Safety instructions
for the wiring and installation of this
apparatus” at the front of this In-
struction Bulletin. Failure to follow
the safety instructions could result
in serious injury or death.
2-1 UNPACKING
If the Platform is received as a separate unit,
carefully examine the shipping carton and
contents for signs of damage. Immediately
notify the shipping carrier if the carton or
contents is damaged. Retain the carton and
packing material until all components associ-
ated with the Platform are operational.
2-2 LOCATION
Install Platform components in weather-
proofed, non-hazardous, vibration-free loca-
tions isolated from extreme temperature
variations. For best results, install near the
sample stream to minimize sample transport
time if the Platform contains an Analyzer
module.
WARNING.
POSSIBLE EXPLOSION HAZARD
This equipment may contain mod-
ules used in the analysis of sample
gases which may be flammable. If
used for analysis of such gases, the
module must be protected by a con-
tinuous dilution purge system in ac-
cordance with Standard ANSI/NFPA
496-1993, Chapter 6.
CAUTION.
HAND INJURY HAZARD
Do not place hands or fingers in
Platform front handles when the
front panel is open. Dropping front
panel while hand or fingers are in-
side either handle can cause serious
injury.
NOTE
If this Platform is stored in an envi-
ronment whose ambient tempera-
ture is below 5°C (41°F), it must be
moved into a room temperature en-
vironment for 24 hours before pow-
ering up. Otherwise, moisture may
form inside the LCD display.
NOTE
Unrestricted air flow in the rear of
the Platform is critical to the com-
ponent's performance and reliabil-
ity. The 30 A Bulk Power Supply
module requires unrestricted air
flow vertically through itself. It
should therefore not be placed be-
tween other modules which restrict
this flow
Although the NGA 2000 Flame Ionization
Detectors (FID and HFID) contain Type Z
purge equipment due to the presence of an
internal source of flammable gas, the instru-
ments are designed for non-hazardous loca-
tions. Type Z continuous dilution purge is
designed to provide protection in accordance
with standard ANSI/NFPA 496 (1993),
Chapter 6 when sampling non-flammable
gases. Do not place this (or any general pur-
pose) Analyzer in a hazardous environment.
