Solutions for difcult lighting conditions
A camera that features Wide Dynamic Range can show very
bright and very dark areas in a scene at the same time without
losing important details. We offer you two different approaches
to utilise WDR:
Digital Pixel System
DPS™, coming to use in eneo VKC-1355 is a new technology
that uses a special CMOS sensor that fundamentally changes
the method of imaging processing in CCTV cameras. This
is achieved by inclusion of an analogue-to-digital converter
(ADC) within each single pixel of the image sensor. The chip
can therefore allocate an optimal exposure time to each pixel.
This considerably extends the camera’s dynamic range. The
results are clear, realistic pictures rich with natural colours as
normally recognised by the human eye.
Progressive Scan CCD
The eneo VKC-1350 is based on a Progressive Scan CCD,
which reads out 50 frames per second, and not 50 elds
per second, with PAL. The dynamic range is achieved here
by processing the two frames in an image differently by
using two separate automatic exposure time controls. In the
simplest case, the controlled iris of a CD lens is responsible for
exposing the darker sections of the rst frame, whilst a shutter
captures the light sections of the second frame. What’s more,
a second shutter is used in the Sony SS2™ chipset. The two
different frames are scanned by the Progressive Scan Sensor
and can now be exposed for different times even without
using a DC lens. The two optimally exposed frames are now
combined into a video image.
