5 Requirements for product use
5.1 Requirements to be met by personnel
The linear axis can prove hazardous if it used by unqualified and untrained
personnel, or if it is used improperly or is not used as intended.
Qualified personnel in respect of these operating instructions are persons who
are familiar with the assembly, commissioning, operation and maintenance of
electric, aerostatic linear axes and who are authorized on the basis of their
qualifications to connect circuits and devices in accordance with the technical
safety standards and are suitably qualified as follows:
Training and instructions on or authorization to switch on and switch off
devices/systems in accordance with technical safety standards, and to
earth and mark them appropriately in accordance with the application re-
quirements.
Training or instructions in using and maintaining suitable safety equipment
in accordance with technical safety standards.
Training in first aid.
5.2 Safety and technical requirements
Warning
Hot surface temperatures (up to 70°C in normal operation) can cause burns or
cause flammable materials to ignite.
Make sure that:
hot surfaces on the linear axis are either inaccessible (e.g. by means of a
protective grill) or, if necessary, are only accessible if sufficiently pro-
tected against burns (e.g. by providing protective gloves).
no flammable materials are situated in the vicinity of the linear axis (e.g.
flammable cleaning agents).
Warning
High speeds during initial commissioning can lead to critical movement se-
quences.
Carry out the initial commissioning of the drive system with reference
travel and low speeds, masses and forces.
