Warning
Uncontrolled moving masses can cause injury to people (squashing) or dam-
age to property.
Check whether additional external safety measures are required to pre-
vent the effective load from sliding down. The linear axis has no automatic
locking. Automatic locking is only available when the compressed air for
the air cushion bearing is turned off.
Note
The possible dynamics and accuracy of the linear axis may be reduced de-
pending on the fitting (stiffness and temperature stresses).
Make sure that the module is not stressed or bent when fitted
(e.g. by fastening in a fixed position and a loose position).
Make sure that the mechanical structure is of good rigidity (incl. base and
effective load).
Avoid damage on the stator. Damage will impair operational safety and
reliable functioning and reduce the service life of the product.
Rectify damage using only the oil stone in the maintenance and repair set
(see Accessories).
Installation instructions for the stator
The flatness of the stator is 7 m/300 mm. After assembly, it has to stay ex-
actly flat on a base (e.g. machine bed, frame) to ensure the quality of the air
cushion bearing. This can be attained by using a 3- or 4-point support. The
recommended maximum support span of the stator is 500 mm.
The flatness of the points of support is usually ensured using a congruous sur-
face. If this is not the case, use the adjustable feet in the accessories set (see
Accessories).
For simple adjustment in the event of uneven bases, please use the adjust-
ment feet. First, set the two outer feet to the necessary machine requirement,
without fastening the stator at an angle. Then manually adjust the central sup-
ports such that approximately the same torque is applied to all adjustment
screws; this is to attain an even base without fastening the stator. The fixing is
done by means of the fixing screws.
It is vital you observe the flatness requirements and check the correct align-
ment prior to commissioning, e.g. using a straight-edge.
