Terrazzo Wheelchair Receptors
WTR-5000 Series
General:
Precast terrazzo one piece products are made of black and white marble chips cast in
white portland cement to produce a compressive strength of not less than 3000
P.S.I., seven days after casting. The terrazzo surface is ground and polished with all
air holes and/or pits grouted and the excess removed. Wheelchair receptors are
available in custom sizes.
Receptor to have integral stainless steel entry cap. For wheelchair accessibility,
receptor threshold entry height shall be ½” (13) complying with the barrier free
requirements of ANSI Standard A-117.1—1980. Tiling flange cast integral shall be
galvanized-bonderized steel and shall extend not less than 1” (25) above shoulder.
Shoulder shall not be less than 4” (102) high inside, 6” (152) high outside and not
less than 3” (76) wide.
Drain body shall be stainless steel cast integral, and shall provide for a caulked lead
connection not less than 1” (25) deep to a 2” (51) pipe, or a quick drain connection
using a QDC-4 connector and shall include a removable stainless steel or brass
strainer plate. It is recommended that a floor drain at or near the entrance to the
shower also be included.
Installation:
Establish ¼” (6) clearance between shower floor and building wall. It is required that
the entire area between the receptor and the building floor has a ½” (13) layer of
mortar in order that the shower floors be level.
