CAUTION:
Pipe Fittings: When loosened, tightened or replaced, the complete fittings should be removed and
approved pipe dope applied to the male threads.
Flare Fittings: No pipe dope is required on the SAE flare fittings.
Leaks: When a heater is serviced, the valve train should be checked for leaks with a soap and
water solution or approved leak detector solution.
Installation & Maintenance: Heaters are to be installed and operated in accordance with CGA
Standard B149.2 Installation Code and to any provincial or local code. Service should be carried out
only by qualified propane gas fitters.
Fan Assembly: Ensure heater is fired only on a level surface. When the fan assembly is
mounted but not running, the motor can be damaged if the gas pressure is low and the heater is tilted
forward.
Do not store or use gasoline, flammable vapour of flammable liquids in the vicinity of the heater.
Burner Fails to Ignite:
Ensure the cylinder valve is opened slowly. Check the cylinder has propane inside by the weight of
the cylinder, or by slowly disconnecting the cylinder and checking for high pressure from the cylinder
valve outlet.
Check that the regulator is screwed in fully (clockwise).
Depress the reset button fully and light the burner.
Refer to the valve train drawing and disconnect the copper line from the low fire orifice. Depress the
reset button and gas should pass through the line. If the flow is not evident, or minimal, there could be
a blockage in: (a) POL with excess flow check (b) Regulator (c) Hose (d) Strainer (e) Safety valve.
When the low fire line is disconnected, remove the low fire orifice and clean with a #72 DMS drill.
The pilot burner should ignite unless here is a blockage in the main orifice. The main orifice should
then be removed and cleaned with a #43 DMS drill.
Main Burner Fails to Fire Correctly:
Depress the reset button and light the pilot burner, keep the reset button depressed for 45 seconds.
When released, the low fire should alternate to high fire. If this fails to burn at full fire or burns with a
yellow flame, remove the main orifice and clean with a #43 drill.
If you have the optional igniter on your heater, depress the igniter button and turn to generate spark for
the pilot burner. Keep the button depressed for 45 sec. When released, the burner should alternate to
high fire. If it fails to burn at afull fire, or burns with a yellow flame, remove the main orifice and clean
with a #43 DMS drill.
Reset button could be binding and not releasing correctly. In this case the safety valve should be
replaced.
Burner Fails to Remain Lit:
Replace the thermocouple
Replace the safety valve
