Either the handset or the keys on the base are used to personalise settings on and operate the
answer machine ( p. 5).
Setting up the answer machine
The answer machine has been preset with default settings. You can change the settings.
Recording your own announcement
¤ MENU Answer Machine OK Announcements OK Rec announce
OK Speak after OK OK
You hear the ready tone (short tone).
¤ Record the announcement (min. 3 seconds) and confirm with OK
or:
Cancel with or
After the recording, the announcement is played back for you to check.
Recording ends automatically if the
maximum recording time of 170 seconds is reached or there
is a break in speech for more than 2 seconds.
Playing back the announcement:

Auto: the answer machine answers a call:
after 18 seconds if there are no new messages.
after 10 seconds if there are new messages.
Recording time:
¤ Message Length OK Maximum / 1 Minute / 2 Minutes / 3 Minutes OK
Select Auto when you want to retrieve messages while you are out. With remote
access (
p. 22) it is apparent after 10 seconds that there are no new messages. No
call costs are incurred if the call is ended immediately.
