Use for Intended Purpose
• The respective multimeter is a portable device which can be
held in the hand during the performance of measurements.
• Only those types of measurements described in the operating
instructions may be performed with the measuring instrument.
• The measuring instrument, including measurement cables
and plug-on test probes, may only be utilized within the spec-
ified measuring category.
• Overload limits may not be exceeded. See technical data for
overload values and overload limits.
• Measurements may only be performed under the specified
ambient conditions. See technical data regarding operating
temperature range and relative humidity.
• The measuring instrument may only be used in accordance
with the specified degree of protection (IP code), see technical
data.

Safety Precautions for Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Batteries
(Z270A/Z270G)
The test instrument is supplied by a rechargeable lithium-ion bat-
tery. For your own safety, it is essential that you observe the fol-
lowing points:
• Temperature ranges: The test instrument with rechargeable bat-
tery module may neither be exposed to direct sunlight, oper-
ated or stored at high temperatures as may be present in a car,
for example.
The following ambient conditions apply to the battery module:
– Charging mode (10 ... 45 °C): The battery may only be charged
in this temperature range.
– Measuring mode (–10 ... 50 °C): The battery may only be oper-
ated in this temperature range.
– Storage (–20 ... 50 °C): The maximum storage temperature is
50 °C.
• Excessive depletion: The battery features a protection circuit that
requires a small amount of current. In order to prevent the
rechargeable battery from being excessively depleted, the
instrument should at least be recharged with mains power at
nine-monthly intervals, or preferably on a regular basis. Under
certain circumstances, an excessively depleted battery can no
longer be recharged.

An excessive depletion of the battery is to be avoided as
it involves the risk of battery life impairment or immediate
battery failure. The self-discharge rate of the battery pack
amounts to approx. 25 % per year.

the Z270A/Z270G Lithium polymer rechargeable battery
module (3-349-997-15/3-447-030-15).
