Dry operation causes irreparable damage to the mechanical seal. Caution The pump should not be started more than 20 times in one hour so as not to subject the motor to excessive thermal shock. Even at temperatures above freezing, in the event of prolonged inactivity, it is advisable to completely empty the pump body through the drain cap; see fig. 9.
