Quick guide
Setting up the Device
Set up the device, using the handle or the device’s pedestal, so it can be operated and read comfortably.
Avoid direct sunlight over a longer period since this could damage the screen.
In order to comply with the technical tolerance data, the device has to be operating for
about 30 minutes within the given operating temperature range.
Ensure sufficient ventilation of the device. Do not cover or seal the ventilation apertures
of the device.
Getting Started
Connect the mains cable provided to the mains connector, at the back of the device, and connect the safety
plug to an earthed mains socket.
Switch on the device with the power switch (I/0). The oscilloscope is activated when the switch is in the
depressed position.
The device shows a start screen and is ready for operation after a short initialisation phase. Connect the
corresponding measuring lines/probes to the measurement input connector “CH1” to “CH4”.
The measuring signal should only be applied to the internal conductor. The external
conductor (reference earth) is connected to the earth potential (protective earth
conductor).
Touch the object to be measured with the measuring lead.
To automatically set the signal, push the button “AUTOSET”.
With this function, all parameters are automatically adjusted optimally for the signal presentation.
Remove the lead from the object after finishing the measuring, and turn off the appliance.
Installation of the Measurement Software
Before you connect the oscilloscope to a computer, install the measurement program. Switch on the
computer and start the operating system.
Insert the provided software CD into the CD drive and close it. The automatic start mode will automatically
start the installation of the measurement program.
If this does not happen automatically, start the program “setup.exe” by double-clicking on the drive holding
the CD-ROM in the Explorer of your operating system. The software installation will start.
Please follow the on-screen instructions.
In the start menu’s program manager, a new folder is created.
Leave the CD in the drive for device installation.
Connection and installation of the DSO
Connect an optional USB connection cable to a free USB port on your computer and then with the USB
connection on the back of the oscilloscope.
The operating system recognises the new hardware and starts the “Hardware Wizard”. The system
automatically searches for the suitable drivers and installs them. You should now be able to use the device.
If the message “The driver software was not installed” appears, the driver has to be installed separately as it
has not been recognised by the Windows system.
The CD contains any driver required.
USB-Host
A USB ash drive can be connected at the USB-HOST under the display or on the back of the device. The
USB stick must have a FAT32 file system (not NTFS or EXT3, etc.) so that it can be recognised by the
device.
You can save the signal or the complete display content using the “Save” button.
After saving, wait for at least 10 seconds for the storage operation to complete before pulling the USB
memory stick from the device. Otherwise, there might be no data on the USB stick when you connect it to
a computer.
Cleaning
Always observe the following safety instructions before cleaning the device:
If you open covers or remove parts – unless you can do this by hand – live parts may
be exposed.
Prior to cleaning or repairing the device, all lines must be detached and the device must
be turned off.
Do not use scouring, chemical or aggressive cleaning agents such as benzene, alcohol or
similar chemicals. These might attack the surface of the device. Further more, the fumes are
hazardous to your health and are explosive. Moreover, you should not use sharp-edged tools,
screwdrivers or metal brushes or similar imple ments for cleaning.
Do not press too hard on the display; this can lead not only to scratches but also to the destruction of the
display. The warranty will be void!
For cleaning the device or the display and the measuring cables, use a clean, slightly damp, lint-free -,
antistatic cloth.
