SAFETY INFORMATION Please read and understand this entire manual before attempting to assemble, operate or install the product. • Before you begin installing the fan, disconnect the power by removing fuses or turning off the circuit breakers. • Make sure all electrical connections comply with local codes, ordinances, the National Electrical Code and ANSI/NFPA 70-199. Hire a qualified electrician or consult a do-it-yourself wiring handbook if you are unfamiliar with installing electrical wiring.
SAFETY INFORMATION CAUTION: Be sure the outlet box is properly grounded or that a ground (green or bare) wire is present. CAUTION: Carefully check all screws, bolts and nuts on the fan motor assembly to ensure they are secured. CAUTION: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation.
INITIAL INSTALLATION 1. Turn off the circuit breakers and the wall switch to the fan supply line leads. 1 DANGER: Failure to disconnect the power supply prior to installation may result in serious injury or death. 2. Determine the mounting method to use. Standard mounting is best suited for ceilings 8 ft. or higher. For taller ceilings you may want to use a longer downrod (not included). 2 Angle-style mounting is best suited for angled or vaulted ceilings.
INITIAL INSTALLATION 4. Loosen all four mounting bracket screws (X), then completely remove the two mounting bracket screws (X) from the round holes of canopy (E). Set aside for later use. 4 D Detach mounting bracket (D) from canopy (E). X E 5. Secure the mounting bracket (D) to the outlet box using screws and washers provided with the outlet box. 5 D CAUTION: It is very important you use the proper hardware when installing the mounting bracket (D) as this will support the fan.
STANDARD OR ANGLE MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Remove the downrod pin (B) and downrod clip (C) from the downrod (A). Then partially loosen the set screws (L) in the yoke at the top of the motor assembly (N). 1 A C B L 2. Insert the downrod (A) through the canopy (E) and yoke cover (G). Feed the wires from the motor assembly (N) through the downrod (A). 2 A E G Yoke 3. Slide the downrod (A) into the yoke of the motor assembly (N), align the holes, then re-install the downrod pin (B) and downrod clip (C).
STANDARD OR ANGLE MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS 4. Depending on the length of downrod you use, you may need to cut the lead wires back to simplify the wiring. If you decide to cut back the lead wires, it is suggested you do so in the following manner: Take the lead wires and make sure you have pulled them all the way through the top of the downrod. Measure 8 inches of lead wire, then cut the excess wire off with wire cutters (not included). 4 5. If you decided to cut back the lead wire in Step 4, strip 1/2 in.
CLOSEMOUNT INSTRUCTIONS 1. Remove and discard the canopy cover (F) from the bottom of the canopy (E). 1 Note: The downrod (A), canopy cover (F), and yoke cover (G) are not used in this type of installation. E F 2. Remove three Phillips-head closemount screws (M) from the top of the motor assembly (N). Align the canopy (E) with the holes in the top of the motor assembly (N), then re-install the Phillips-head closemount screws (M) to secure the canopy (E) to the top of the motor assembly (N).
WIRING WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock or personal injury, wire connectors provided with this fan are designed to accept only one 12-gauge house wire and two lead wires from the fan. If your house wire is larger than 12-gauge and/or there is more than one house wire to connect to the two fan lead wires, consult an electrician for the proper size wire connectors to use. CAUTION: Be sure the outlet box is properly grounded or that a Ground (Green or Bare) wire is present. 1.
FINAL INSTALLATION Note: Closemount installation will not have the downrod (A), yoke cover (G), or canopy cover (F). 1. Align the canopy (E) over the loose mounting bracket screws (X) preassembled on mounting bracket (D). Place the keyholes of the canopy (E) onto the mounting bracket screws (X) and rotate the canopy (E) clockwise. 1 X D E 2. Secure the canopy (E) with the mounting bracket screws (X) previously removed (Step 4, page 8). Tighten all mounting bracket screws (X) securely. 2 X E 3.
FINAL INSTALLATION 4. Install the blade arm (J) to the underside of the motor assembly (N) with motor screws (R) previously removed (Step 6, page 8). Tighten with Phillips screwdriver (not included). 4 Repeat for each blade arm (J). R 5. Remove one of the three fitter plate screws (O) from the fitter plate (P) and save. Loosen but do not remove the other two fitter plate screws (O). J K 5 Note: Make sure to keep loose hardware separate to avoid confusion during installation. P O 6.
FINAL INSTALLATION 7. Remove one light pan screw (S) from one of the three brackets below the light pan (H) and save. Loosen but do not remove the other two screws on the other two brackets. 7 H 8. Connect the 9-pin connector from the fitter plate (P) to the 9-pin connector from the light kit (Q). 8 Q 9. Align the two key slots in the light kit (Q) with the two previously loosened light pan screws (S). Place the light kit (Q) over the two screws and turn the light kit (Q) clockwise.
FINAL INSTALLATION 10. Install the bulbs (V) into the sockets on the light kit (Q). Remove the finial (U) and finial cap (T). 10 V T U 11. Lift the glass globe (I) over the threaded rod on light kit (Q). Lift the finial cap (T) up until it is flush with the glass bowl (I) and secure with the finial (U). 11 I T U 12. Align the three grooves on the inside of the light frame (W) with the three raised bumps on the light kit (Q). Turn clockwise until it locks into place.
FINAL INSTALLATION 13. Attach the pull chain extensions (DD) or custom pull chain extensions (not included) to the fan and light pull chains. 13 Hardware Used Pull Chain Extension x2 ar b o r Br e e ze b o r Br e e H H ar ze H ar ze DD b o r Br e e H 14. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Using a ceiling fan will allow you to raise your thermostat setting in the summer and lower your thermostat setting in the winter without feeling a difference in your comfort. Note Wait for the fan to stop before moving the reverse switch. 1a. In warmer weather, push the reverse switch to the left to display the sun icon, which will result in downward airflow creating a wind chill effect. 1b.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE At least twice each year, tighten all screws on the fan. Clean the motor housing with only a soft brush or lint-free cloth to avoid scratching the finish. Clean the blades with a lint-free cloth. Bulb Replacement: Use 40-watt max. E26-base LED, CFL or incandescent bulbs. Halogen bulbs are not recommended for this item. Important Shut off the main power supply before you begin any maintenance tasks. Do not use water or a damp cloth to clean the ceiling fan.
TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM The fan is noisy. The fan operates correctly, but the lights are not working. POSSIBLE CAUSE 1. The blades are loose. CORRECTIVE ACTION 1. Check and tighten all screws that hold the fan blades to the blade arms and the motor. 2. There is a cracked blade. 2. Replace the cracked blade. 3. The wall control is not compatible with the fan. 3. Do not use a full range dimmer switch to control the fan speed. 4. The outlet box is not secure. 4.
