General comments
Stainlesssteelsmainlydifferfromnon-alloystructuralsteelsinthefollowingproperties:
• higher resistance to corrosion and acids
•highertoughnessandthuspoormachinability(e.g.whendrilling,turning)
•lowerthermalconductivityandlowerelectricalconductivity
Themachinabilityofstainlesssteelscausessomeproblemsduetotheirlower
thermalconductivitycomparedtoothersteels.Whendrillinginstainlesssteel,
itmustbetakenintoaccountthatthedrillingprocessmaytakelonger,thedrill
bitmaywearmorequicklyanditmaybemoredifculttoformthethreadinthe
stainless steel.

•Theultimatepull-outloadvaluesareonthesamelevelcomparedtotheload
valuesinnon-alloystructuralsteel.
•Thethreadformingtorqueduringthescrew-inprocesswasbelowthespecied
maximumvalue.
Conclusions
