General comments
WhenusingHiltiS-BTfastenersincombinationwithreratedboundariesin
Shipbuildingfacilities,theeffectofthefasteneronthemechanicalresistanceof
thesteelbasematerial(bulkheads,decks)hastobeconsidered.Furthermorethe
behavioroftheHiltiS-BTscrew-inthreadedstudsunderreconditions,whilst
supportingaload,hastobechecked.
Test concept
ThetestswereperformedaccordingtherequirementsofIMOResolution
MSC.307(88),FireTestProcedureCode,2010,part3[3].Inordertotestthe
S-BTfastenerinthemostonerousmanner,a“A-0”classbulkhead(uninsulated)
wastestedatMPADresden.
Forthetest,twobulkheadsizeswereused.
ThebigA-0bulkheadisa2980mmsquare.Theplateofthebulkheadconsistsof
a5mmthicksteelplatewith65 x 65 x 6mmL-stiffeneralongtheverticaledges.
Theconstructionaldetailsofthetestspecimenusedaregiveninthecorresponding
testreport[1]andFigure1.
ThesmallA-0bulkheadisa980mmsquareandisfabricatedintwohalves.Viewed
fromtheunexposedfacetheleft-handsideofthebulkheadconsistsofa3mm
steelplatewithaBulbat80x5.0stiffeneralongtheverticaledge.Theright-
handsideofthebulkheadconsistsofa6mmsteelplatewithaBulbat80x5.0
stiffeneralongtheverticaledge.Thereisalsoacentralstiffener(Bulbat80x5.0).
Theconstructionaldetailsofthetestspecimenusedaregiveninthecorresponding
testreport[2]andFigure2.
ThebulkheadswereinstalledsuchthatthestiffenersandtheS-BTstudswereon
theunexposedfaceofthespecimen.
AtotalofeightS-BTthreadedstuds(bigbulkhead)andtenS-BTthreadedstuds
(smallbulkhead)werettedtothebulkheadandweresubjectedtoeitheratension
or shear load.

gramaregiveninTable1andTable2.
