PRE-OPERATION CHECK
CHECKING THE PETROL LEVEL
1. Check the petrol level on the level indicator:
full [1], empty [2].
2. Fill up if the level is low.
Do not fill the tank above the red mark [3] located in
the filling port. After having filled the tank, check that
the fuel filler cap is tightened as far as it will go.
DO NOT LEAVE FUEL WITHIN REACH OF CHILDREN.
CAUTION :
Never use a gas-oil mixture.
Only use unleaded petrol 95 or 98.
Take care to ensure that no dirt or water gets in the
fuel tank.
Do not use dirty or contaminated fuel (water, dust,
...), or fuel which is too old. The quality of unleaded
petrol deteriorates with time. Do not keep fuel for
more than one month.
Capacity of fuel tank: 14.2 l (ECM2800)
22.8
l (ECMT7000)
Petrol containing alcohol
The use of petrol containing alcohol is advised against.
However, if this is used as fuel, ensure that its octane rating is as high as that recommended
by Honda. Two types of alcohol/petrol mixtures exist: one containing ethanol, the other
methanol.
Do not use a mixture containing more than 10 % ethanol, or containing any methanol (methyl
alcohol or wood alcohol), without cosolvents or corrosion inhibitors for methanol.
Where a mixture containing methanol (with the addition of cosolvents and corrosion
inhibitors) is used, limit the proportion of methanol to 5 %.
NOTE:
The guarantee does not cover damage caused to the fuel circuit, nor does it cover
engine performance problems resulting from the use of fuels containing alcohol. Honda
cannot approve the use of fuel containing methanol insofar as their characteristics have not
yet been proved appropriate.
