MAINTENANCE
AIR CLEANER
The engine will not run properly if the air cleaner is dirty: it is very important that the air
cleaner is serviced regularly.
Never use petrol or inflammable solvents to clean air cleaner elements: these
products can cause fire and damage the air cleaner elements.
1. Detach the clips [1] and remove the air cleaner
cover [2], and remove the foam element [3]. Check that
it is not torn or blocked. Replace it if damaged.
2. Cleaning:
- wash the element [3] in a solution of warm water and
non-foamy household detergent and then rinse,
or
- clean in non-inflammable solvent,
then leave to dry completely. Immerse the element in clean engine oil and press it to
remove the excess oil. If too much oil is left in the foam, the engine will smoke when
started for several times afterwards.
3. Reinstall the foam element [3], the air cleaner cover [2] and close the clips [1] correctly.
CAUTION :
Do not use the generating set without its air cleaner, as this can damage the engine.
