Remote Access
Remote Access
You can access your messages and many of the message center functions from any
Touch Tone phone.
Remote Password
To use the remote access functions, you will need to use the Remote Password. The
default remote password is #139#. You can change the numbers, but the 3-digit
password must start and end with #.
Follow these instructions to change the remote password.
1. Press Menu repeatedly until
SET UP TAM
displays and press Start/Enter.
2. Press
!"until
Remote Password
displays and press Start/Enter.

will display.
3. Change the numbers as desired and press Start/Enter.
Access the message center
1. Call the HP Fax from a Touch Tone phone.
2. Enter your remote password when the device answers the phone.
You will hear 2 short beeps when the password is accepted.
3. Enter the remote command you want to use. Refer to the table below for a list of
commands.
TIP: You must enter a command within 15 seconds or the HP Fax will disconnect the
line.
4. Press #0 to end the remote session.
NOTE: If you do not enter #0, it may take several minutes for the HP Fax to disconnect
and release the phone line.
Table 4-1 Remote access commands
Code Function
#0 Exits remote access.
#1 Skips to the previous message.
#2 Plays back new messages. After each message is played, press * to hear the next
one. The HP Fax beeps twice at the end of the messages.
If you call in and there are no new messages, it beeps 4 times.
