Storage Resource Manager Enterprise Edition Installation Guide

Storage Resource Manager Enterprise Edition 6–13
Installing and Registering Plug-ins
This plug-in requires rsh access to the NAS system. Select Allow rsh Permissions
Setup if you want the registration wizard to automatically update the hosts.equiv
file, which must be modified to enable rsh access. If you do not want to continue
with the automatic update, clear the check box and click Next to proceed with the
registration.
Computer Name — Select the computer name or TCP/IP address to use for rsh
access to this Filer.
Root Password for NAS System — Enter the root password for rsh access.
Comment to Include in Hosts.equiv File — Enter a description to include with
this entry in the hosts.equiv file.
Use the following guidelines when entering information in the second Required
Registration Information dialog box:
Proxy Agent for CIFS Network Protocol — Enter the name of an SRM 4.0B
Agent computer running on Windows NT/Windows 2000 that has the plug-in
installed. This system remotely scans the file systems on the selected Filer using
the CIFS protocol.
Device Network ID (for CIFS) — If necessary, you can change this entry. This
field is automatically filled in with the name of the Filer that you entered in the
first Required Registration Information dialog box.
Granting the SRM Agent rsh Permissions
Before the SRM Server can successfully scan the Filer system for information, rsh
permissions must be granted to the SRM Agent computer that you want to serve as the
proxy scan agent. You must also grant rsh permissions to the SRM Agent Identity to
connect from the system with the TCP/IP address or DNS host name of the SRM
Agent computer.
On each Filer that you want to scan, set the rsh enable feature to on. You can set rsh
security through the Security options on the Filer management console. For more
information, refer to your Network Appliance Filer documentation.
NOTE: Depending upon the configuration of your Filer and TCP/IP network, host-name
resolution may not be available. If this is the case, you must enter the TCP/IP address in dotted
notation for the SRM 4.0B Agent computer in order for the rsh permission check to succeed.
