Storage Resource Manager Enterprise Edition Installation Guide

6–16 Storage Resource Manager Enterprise Edition
Installing and Registering Plug-ins
Many NetWare administrative utilities report file ownership based on the user who
created the file. SRM file ownership helps you find the NetWare users modifying files.
Using the Plug-In Registration Wizard
When registering a NetWare server with the SRM Server, provide the following
information in the first Required Registration Information dialog box:
NetWare Server Name — Enter the simple (not distinguished) name of the
NetWare server as it is known on the network.
SRM Display Name — Enter the name of the NetWare server that you want to be
displayed in SRM reports.
Use the following guidelines when entering information in the second Required
Registration Information dialog box:
Proxy Agent for Volume Scans — Enter the name of an SRM 4.0B Agent
computer running on Windows NT/Windows 2000. This computer is the system
used to perform remote scans of the file systems (volumes) on the selected
NetWare server.
NetWare Server Name — This box is automatically filled in with the name that
you entered in the NetWare Server Name box in the previous dialog box.
However, you can change or edit the entry if necessary.
User Name — Enter the name of a NetWare user with File Scan effective rights to
the volumes being scanned.
Password — Enter the password for that user — it is kept encrypted in the SRM
database.
Context — Enter the NDS context for that user. The context must be in the same
NDS tree as the NetWare server being scanned.
NOTE: To confirm that the server name is correct, try logging in with the credential you plan to
use for file system scanning, and then use an UNC name on the proxy agent computer (for
example, \\server\sys\public) to confirm that your scan can access files and directories.
If you successfully registered the NetWare server, it will be located in the group
named Default Computer Group. You may want to create a new SRM Computer
Group (for example, NetWare) and place your NetWare servers in that group.
