Storage Resource Manager Enterprise Edition Installation Guide

Storage Resource Manager Enterprise Edition 6–17
Installing and Registering Plug-ins
Editing Scan Proxy Information
You must use the following steps to change the proxy agent used for volume scans, the
NetWare user name, password, and context information used when performing file
system scans of NetWare volumes.
Using SRM, you can edit the proxy system settings for a registered NetWare server.
For example, you can change the SRM Agent computer that performs computer scans,
or you can specify a computer and security settings for file system (volume) scanning
to get volume usage details.
To edit scan proxy information:
1. Launch SRM.
2. Click the Options tab, and then click the Scans notebook.
3. In the navigation pane, click select proxy. The Select Proxy dialog box displays.
4. Next to the NetWare option, click Modify. The Modify Scan Settings for NetWare
dialog page displays.
5. In the Select a managed object list box, choose the NetWare server you want to
modify, and make the necessary changes.
You can change the following settings:
Computer Scan Agent — Enter the name of a managed SRM Agent computer
that has the correct plug-in installed on it. Computer scans of NetWare servers do
not require a lot of agent system resources. If you select an SRM 4.0B Agent
computer that does not have the correct plug-in installed, all computer scans for
the selected NetWare server fail.
File System (Volume) Scan Agent — Enter the name of an SRM 4.0B Agent
computer running on Windows NT/Windows 2000. This computer will be the
system used to perform remote scans of the file systems (volumes) on the selected
NetWare server (enabled by installing the Novell NetWare client on the agent
system).
NOTE: File scans of NetWare volumes require more server resources than computer scans do.
The agent computer performing the file scans can be different from the computer selected to
perform the computer scans.
NetWare Server Name — This must be the simple (not distinguished) name of
the NetWare server as it is known on the network.
User Name — Enter the name of a NetWare user with File Scan effective rights to
the volumes being scanned.
