SRM Troubleshooting Guide
Registration Failed
The registration failed due to an invalid domain was entered for the SRM Service
Account.
NOTE: When prompted for the SRM Service account domain during the UNIX Agent install, or
when registering the UNIX Agent with a different SRM Server. You have the option to press
Enter without entering anything, taking the default domain. If the registration fails, retry the
registration and enter the service account domain. Do NOT take the default this second time.
Running SRM
Once the SRM Server and Agents have been installed, other issues can arise, due to an
incorrectly configured SRM Installation or because someone has changed something
that shouldnt have been changed.
It is important that all appropriate personnel are aware that SRM has been installed,
and that they are aware of the changes that SRM has made to their environment. These
include:
Creation of the SRM Service account, and of the SRMAdmin and SRMUser local
groups.
Addition of registry keys.
Changes to SQL Server, including a new database and an additional Login record.
Administrators who are not aware of these changes might think they are unauthorized
and remove them, causing SRM to fail in many different areas.
Known Issues
The following problems are known issues that you may encounter during normal
operations of SRM:
Error When Trying to Submit Scans or Remote Install Jobs
If nothing appears to be running when looking at the SRMSched.ASP page and you
cannot submit any type of job, verify that the SRM Server Service is started by
opening Control Panel > Services on the SRM Server machine. The SRM Server
Service must be started.
If this service is not running, attempt to start it. If it fails, click the STARTUP button
and verify the User Account and password to be sure they are correct. If the service
continues to fail, you may have a corrupt installation. You may need to reinstall SRM.
