Storage Resource Manager Enterprise Edition Installation Guide

Storage Resource Manager Enterprise Edition 21
2
Installation Preparation
This chapter includes procedures that will simplify installation of Storage Resource
Manager (SRM) Enterprise Edition. The procedures describe how to:
Verify SRM Prerequisites
Verify that DCOM is Enabled
Prepare SQL Server for SRM
Create the SRM Service Login Account
Create the SRMAdmin Group
Create the SRMUser Group
All procedures in this chapter are optional; however, it is recommended that you
perform at least the prerequisite check on each computer where SRM will be installed.
It will save you time during the installation process.
Verify SRM Prerequisites
The most common installation problem is improperly or incompletely installed
prerequisites. To ensure that you are ready to install SRM, run the SRM Prerequisite
Check program from the SRM Installation CD. The Setup program checks the local
computer for the prerequisites needed for the components you specify. This feature is
only available for the local computer. The prerequisites needed for each SRM
component are listed in Chapter 2, Installation Prerequisites.
To run the prerequisite check program:
1. Insert the SRM Installation CD in the CD-ROM drive. If Auto Start is enabled, the
SRM Installation Menu launches automatically.
2. If Auto Start is not enabled, run I386\AUTORUN.EXE from the CD.
3. Click Check Prerequisites on the SRM Installation Menu.
