Prepare SQL Server for SRM
This section addresses two types of SRM SQL Server information, Confirm SRM
SQL Server Settings and SRM SQL Server Database Configuration.
The Confirm SRM SQL Server Settings section explains how to prepare an SQL
Server for an SRM installation. This information presumes that SRMs installation
program will create and configure the database.
The SRM SQL Server Database Configuration section explains how to manually
configure an SQL Server database for SRM. This information presumes that you are
creating and configuring the database manually prior to installing SRM. In this case,
the SRM installation program will locate and use this database.
This guide does not explain how to create the SRM SQL Server database. Creating an
SQL Server database prior to SRM installation is optional. You can modify the default
database at any time after installation using the SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
If you are unfamiliar with configuring SQL Server databases, consult your Microsoft
SQL Server documentation or your database administrator before following these
procedures.
Confirm SRM SQL Server Settings
If Setup will be used to create and configure your SRM SQL Server database,
complete this SQL Server configuration checklist first. This ensures that the SQL
Server installation is configured to meet the needs of your SRM database. The
configuration settings listed apply to SQL Server 7.0, Service Pack 1.
Install Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 on the SQL Server computer.
NOTE: For more SRM information, including how to download an evaluation copy of SQL
Server 7.0, access the Compaq Website at: www.compaq.com/products/sanworks/srmindex.html
.
Select these SQL Server configuration settings:
Sort Order Any case-insensitive (required) sort order.
User Connections Set the number of connections at least equal to the
number of client access licenses (CALs) assigned to the SRM installation.
Net Libraries Must be set to Named Pipes or Multi-protocol.
Open Objects Set to 1,000 or greater.
