Create the SRM Service Login Account
SRM runs as a Windows NT/Windows 2000 service, which needs an authorized
account to run. By default, this account is SRMSvcUser on each computer where an
SRM Server, an Agent, or both are installed. Use the default account; however, you
can use an account specific to your environment.
The SRM Server uses the SRM Service Login Account to authenticate communication
with SRM Agents. The Service Login Account is also the only SRM user that can
access the SRM SQL Server database. All database interaction is handled by this
account.
This account is created for each SRM Server and Agent installation, whether in a
domain or workgroup.
The installation program creates this account automatically, but you can create this
account before installation. If you create this account for the SRM Server before
installation in a multi-domain environment, you must create it in the Master domain.
NOTE: Windows NT/Windows 2000 account creation and modification requires domain
administrator privileges.
During account creation, you establish the password for the SRM Service Login
Account. If you change this password later, you must do so in the User Manager for
Domains program and in the Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS).
To create the SRM Service Login Account (Windows NT and Windows 2000):
1. For Windows NT, go to Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > User Manager
for Domains and create a new user account called SRMSvcUser.
or
For Windows 2000, go to Start > Run, type
usrmgr in the Open box, and
click OK.
2. On the New User dialog box, choose the Password Never Expires check box.
NOTE: If a servers Service Login Account password expires or changes, SRM Agents on all
computers monitored by the SRM Server must be reinstalled using the new password.
3. On the Group Membership dialog box, make the new account a member of the
following local groups for the SRM Server computer:
SRMAdmin
Backup Operators
Administrators
