Messages are captured using one or more journaling rules that determine which messages are copied to
the journal.
The method for c
reating EAs Domino journaling rules is described in this section. If you are using native
Domino journal
ing, follow the instructions in the D omino documentation and the re commendations in
Domino native journaling on page 81.
Messages can be scanned by an anti-virus program before they are captured, if the option is config ured
during installation of the EAs software.
IMPORTANT:
If you are deleting or disabling a n exi sting rule to replace it with a new journal rule, or if you
are editing a journal rule, stop the Advanced Filtering (mwadvt) task before continuing. See the
instructions in Editing journal rules on page 89. For more information on the mwadvt task see

A default EAs journaling rule h as been created by following these steps:
1. In the Domino Admin client, open the HP EAs-D API database.
2. In the main view, double-click Journaling Rules.
The Journaling Rules document appears.
3. Configure the rule by completing the settings in the Journaling Rules document.

4. Select File > Save to save the rule.
5. Create other journaling rules, if necessary, by selecting Create > Archiving > 2. Journaling Rule.
For example, if the first rule is for incoming m essages, you could create a second rule for outgoing
messages.
